Thirty minutes later Elliere had spit out everything that had happened to Mercy and what it meant. He had explained to her that a Lupus chooses a mate, claims a mate and they live in harmony for as long as they live. He explained that marking creates a bond that'll last forever and there is no way to take it back, he told her the bond could be completed though...if she wanted it. He told her that even if she didn't want it, she would come around to it eventually. He told her he was sorry... so very sorry that he could not take it back, that things had happened without his control.
"Would you believe me if I said that I didn't mean to do it?" He said, voice cracking as his frustration and fear mounted. His eyes finally looked up in search of her own and he seen she wasn't even looking at him, but far, far away. Her glimmering hazel eyes were glazed over, looking as though they were seconds away from tears and her supple looking mouth was popped open in an 'o' shape.
Elliere waited in silence for everything he said including the most recent question, to process in Mercy's mind. He could only imagine the thousands of thoughts she was thinking, though he didn't have to imagine too hard.. he had just been thinking all sorts of panicky thoughts about having accidentally bonded to her in a drunken stupor he didn't even remember.
Elliere cringed at the thought. You didn't even remember bonding to her, you ásshole.
Before he could berate himself anymore, Mercy looked at him finally. The hazel depths of her eyes remained firmly on his own monstrous eyes, but the tears in hers finally spilled over. It finally registered with her what had happened entirely. She had seemed too calm and collected until this point. She had been calm all through his outburst with Layla, calm when he explained what he was, even calm while explaining what had been done to her, but once everything settled in... well, it was just too much to all take in and think properly.
Elliere's heart ached at the sight of the glistening clear drops that fell from her face. Her face had crumpled and the hurt that was there made him want to pull her in for a hug. A hug. Something he hadn't done in a really long time. He knew she wouldn't want that from him though, even as a sob escaped from her silky lips, he forced himself to stay put.
He was about to apologize again, when her shaky, sobbing voice spoke before his.
"The worst part is... is I can't even hate you for this. I can only hate myself for running into you and agreeing to come here. Agreeing to sleep with you," more tears trailed down her pretty cheeks. "But I can't believe that you didn't do this without some thought or purpose. You did this because you wanted to. Sure, you were drunk, drunk enough to not remember, but deep down you wanted this. So don't even say that you didn't!"
As Mercy finished, she stood on shaky legs and choked on her sobs. Elliere stood quickly too and looked at her pleadingly. He knew she wouldn't be able to run forever and he knew he was asking a lot for her to accept him now, but he still had foolishly hoped she might.
The death glare she threw his way however, said she wanted nothing to do with him right now even though she had just said she couldn't hate him, that didn't mean she liked him right now. So he stood back, listening to her muffled sobs and the slam of his apartment door as she ran out.
Elliere sank onto the couch heavily and blew out a sigh as his stomach constricted tightly. He hated her sad face, her sobs, her tears and now he would be haunted with nothing, but those images because Mercy had, much like he knew she would, rejected him. Running a hand over his face, he knew it was a waiting game now. And he knew the waiting would probably just about kill him emotionally. Elliere stood, hiking himself to his bedroom and searched for his pipe. If he was going to wait, he needed a distraction and green was just the sort of distraction he needed after all that had happened.
