Elliere knew he shouldn't have come barging into her work nor should he have necessarily -- and quite literally -- hauled her out of her work. Especially so after the fact he seen she was okay and without so much as telling her boss. He also shouldn't have ignored her questions and insults as he dragged her away, but he was just too frantic. His body had just about shut down all human emotions in favor of his animalistic ones that urged him to protect and poured unrelenting amounts of fear into him. The remaining human side was busy trying to figure out who had been on the phone, but just couldn't, for the life of him, recall any other enemies he had made in his long life. Instead his mind was throwing images of the Jaecars and losing his family at him.
"Elliere!" Mercy's voice snapped, echoing in his head and penatrating through his haze of thoughts.
He slowed, his grip loosening slightly on Mercy, but not enough for her to squirm out of his hold.
"Wolf, please put me down," Mercy murmured, sounding exasperated.
"Oh....right," his voice was detatched but his body still reacted in a fit of tingles as he let Mercy slip down his front and onto her feet.
"Now tell me what has you storming into my work and hauling me out like some sort of cave man?" She said, voice firm though Elliere could still see the angry fire swirling within.
Elliere blew out a sigh, his mind still riddled with fear but relaxing the longer she was alive and standing in front of him. He cupped her face before she could pull away and watched her eyes soften slightly. Elliere looked at her seriously though and began to explain.
"Someone....called me today from private caller. I called them back and they said to watch the ones closest to me. It reminded me a lot of when Layla was taken, but the voice wasn't one I recognized. I got scared when I realized you were alone. I... I'm sorry, but I can't lose you. That's why I want you to come and stay with me while we stay with my friend, Rori and her mate," he said firmly, though his tone shook in places.
"Wait, wait. I can't just leave my job and how could this Rori and her mate be of any help?" Mercy said, annoyance sliding into her voice.
"Yes, you can leave your job. I'm sure you've been working here long enough to take a few days off and because... Rori and her mate are pack Lupus," Elliere replied, his voice firm while he stared at her with hard eyes. He didn't want to force her into this, but if she wasn't going to see reason and come willingly, he would. Even he didn't want to be around the pack again, but he would do it for her.
"What will the pack do that you can't?" Mercy said, her tone challenging.
Elliere growled in frustration. He wanted to tell her that they would be better protected, but the stubborn, wolfish side wanted to keep his mouth shut and say nothing. He wanted to be the only one able and capable of protecting her. But with his past of losing Layla and the damage it caused made it so he would just have to suck up his pride to tell her.
"They'll protect us. Not just me protecting you, it'll be the pack keeping both of us out of danger," he said, voice even, though it pained him he couldn't do it alone.
"You...?" Mercy trailed off, her eyes turning distant as she turned thoughts over.
Finally after a beat, she shook her head, glancing up at him and Elliere swore he seen a glimpse of fear. "Yeah, okay. When do we leave?"
"Go talk to your boss, I have to make a phone call and then we pack and leave," he murmured, not questioning her sudden change of heart.
Mercy turned around without a word and Elliere swiftly pulled out his phone.
Well, Rori will be pleased anyways...
