Elliere awoke, gasping and feeling his fur prick through the pores of his skin at the horrid flashbacks of what Claire and her men, the Jaecars, had done to him. It was truly horrid as they had injected him with something that was suppose to make him human again, but turned him into a thing of myths and legends. It broke him apart at first because he had lost his pack and family plus his mate not long before then and then he was turned into some freak Lupus. He hated them so much, but he did have his revenge upon the awful woman known as Claire and the Jaecars who had been in her complex at the time. Elliere knew Jaecars were everywhere in the world, but just seeing the hated woman be destroyed with the ássholes who helped her was good enough for him.

He rubbed a hand down his face, scrubbing his beard and then moved it through his sweaty hair. He hated the nightmare-ish flashbacks that he'd lived through, but he couldn't do a thing about it...except enjoy the fact he was alive today. With a groan, he rose from his bed, happy that he could recall the night before. In fact, Elliere could remember many nights, for it had been many nights since he's had a drink. Maybe not since he's had a smoke...of either items, but certainly a drink. He'd stopped in fear he'd bring some other poor girl home unknowingly.

And maybe he did it because of his weird...emotions caused by Mercy Rains.

Mercy...

The woman had been on his mind for days. It was practically insufferable and Elliere couldn't get the visions of her delicious naked body out of his head. Honestly, how had he forgotten the night of sex with her?

With a groan at his now hardened member, he swung himself out of bed. It was utterly tempting to stay and tend to himself, but it wasn't the same as sex and Elliere hadn't gone long enough without it to resort to tending to his needs by himself. So he stood uncomfortably and shoved himself into the shower where he took a nice freezing one to cool down.

Cooled down and clean, Elliere yanked on a pair of boxers, jeans and a tight black T-shirt. He didn't know if he'd be going anywhere today, but it never hurt to be prepared. He strode from his room, struggling not to return as his mind never seemed to leave Mercy and quickly made it to his kitchen. He grabbed a box of cereal, not bothering to check what kind, and dumped it into a bowl followed by a good pool of milk.

As he began to get to the very last pieces of cereal, a knock hit his apartment door making him nearly choke. No one ever came to Elliere's apartment, no one had reason to. Not the neighbors, not his landlord, not anyone from town and certainly not any other Lupus because he wasn't stationed in a town that had a pack, it's why he remained so long here... or so he told himself. Swallowing his bite of food, he dumped the rest in the sink no longer hungry as he went to the door. Elliere wasn't lucky enough to have a peephole in his door which would allow him to see who was waiting on the other side, so instead he allowed his other senses to confirm what might be waiting for him.

The first thing he did was listen, a heartbeat and steady breathing hit his sensitive ears and he knew instantly whoever it was, was most certainly Lupus because they had a slightly slower heartbeat than a human's unless going through a shift. He closed his eyes and inhaled next, the smell lingering outside his door indicated the Lupus was female and smelled very familiar to him. Beyond using those senses however, he still didn't know who was behind the door. What female Lupus would come here? Or even know how to get here? Why was the scent so familiar?

Unable to figure it out, Elliere sighed and yanked open the door. His eyes widened immediately and he struggled to form a sentence and talk. He couldn't believe the woman before him was here. He was paralyzed with an onslaught of emotions and waves upon waves of memories that crashed into him. His scarred heart, which had long healed from it's wounds, still felt a painful ache resound within it as he gazed upon someone he'd thought he would never see again.

"Layla.." he whispered, his voice and mind tortured by her appearance.

Her blue eyes remained cool and calm. She didn't seem affected by seeing him again at all, even though she had once been willing to give herself to him. Had been willing to live an eternity with him by her side. They had been so close to being bound together and it had been ripped away so easily. Elliere knew because of that it wasn't meant to be, as she had stated all those years ago when he had stolen her from him. But she had done so little to fight to be free, almost as though she wanted it to happen. For that, he had given up on the whole subject of mates and had slowly hated Layla.

"Elliere," she said crisply, her eyes taking him in sharply, settling on his two toned eyes.

His only fell to the mark on her neck, the mark that wasn't his and his rage came back. It wasn't a surprise why he couldn't quite identify her scent before, his was mixed in slightly with her own.

"What do you want?!" He snapped, his canines extending with a crack from his gums.

He watched as Layla took a hesitant step back, her wide, blue eyes solely on his face -- his eyes. Elliere could smell the slight fear that wafted from her and he was slightly pleased that she feared him, even a little.

Running a hand through her black hair, she straightened and murmured, "I heard about the Jaecars."

"Who hasn't?" He snarled, his anger never ebbing away.

"I mean I heard about how you had been taken and and-" she stammered, her eyes now looking directly into his own, monstrous ones.

"Oh, how nice of you to come and see me now. When it happened years ago. You're not welcome here, Layla and I don't want anything to do with you. Run home to your mate," Elliere snapped, the rage consumed him and his hand which held the door frame squeezed it so hard he heard it crack. His joints ached viciously and all his teeth were deadly sharp.

Layla's demeanor turned utterly scared shítless and her face paled drastically while tears welled in her eyes. "I just...wanted to say how sorry I am and thank you for getting rid of some of them."

Elliere was just about to scream at her to get the fück away from him when a scared, fearful voice called his name. He recognized the voice through his haze of rage immediately and the scent that flooded into his nose alerted him even further of just who had walked upon their conversation and seen him partially into a shift.

Mercy Rains.
