"Y/n. Hello? Earth to y/n!" You blinked a couple times before turning to your best friend. "You've been out of it all day today. Did something happen?" They asked, you blink once again. For some reason your brain couldn't comprehend anything at that moment. Only events from the night before replayed in your mind.

Last night

"I can't believe you. I 'can't' believe you. Why would you do that?" Your boyfriend was pacing the floor, you didn't think he'd react this way. "You could have died y/n! Walking into a place like that! What is wrong with you?" He yells, all you could do was look at your feet. You wanted to yell back but it probably wasn't a good idea. You were prone to getting into trouble, even if you aren't trying to. But this time was different. "Damiar. They were hurting an innocent little girl! I couldn't just stand there!" You say explaining your situation, "That- They could have- Jesus Christ. Do you know how much I'd hate myself if something were to happen to you? You could have called the police! Instead, you walk right up to them. They will take advantage of you do you understand me?" The yelling was echoing through your head, you couldn't stand it.

Damiar walks up to you and grabs your waist tightly, "They could have been all up in your face like this right?" He says angrily, "Damiar stop. I get it." You say trying to push him off.
"No I don't think you do. What if they were to just-" One of his hands slid into your shirt while the other grabbed your bottom. "Stop it! Get off of me!" You pushed him off of you. "You are such a dickhead! I knew I shouldn't have come to you about this!" You start grabbing your stuff off of the couch.

He grabbed your wrist, quite tightly and brought you to his face. "Don't leave this fucking house." He says, it seemed his voice has gone way deeper than his actual voice. "I will leave whenever I goddamn please. Let go of me." You say, the both of you stay in silence for what seemed like hours. Damiar finally let go of your sore wrist and stood a couple feet away from you. "Don't ever come back. Get out." He crossed his arms as you smirked. "Gladly."

Present

"Y/n? Do you want me to drive you home?" They asked, you shook your head. You could finally start to hear the sounds around you, the bustling sounds of traffic while you and your best friend sat outside. You look down at the food on your plate, it hasn't even been touched. "I-i think I'll just walk home." You say standing up, your best friend asks if your sure and you nod walking away from the small restaurant, and toward your apartment building.

You were starting to lose your hearing again, all you wanted to do was flop down on your warm soft bed and sleep, never waking up again. You felt so confident about yesterday this morning, what happened? You thought to yourself. You realized that you missed Damiar a lot even though he could be a complete asshole sometimes. He was just worried for me. You thought.

HONK

What? What was that?

HONK HONK

HOOOOONK

You turned your head, the only thing you saw were the headlights of a Tow truck then black.

Damiar POV:

They'll come back, they always do. I don't know what id do if I actually lost them. Maybe I was a bit harsh. Oh god, I messed up didn't I? I can't stop thinking about it. I was snapped out of my thoughts when I realized my phone was buzzing, I grabbed it off the kitchen counter. It was y/n's parent. What the hell? I slid the button and answered. "Hello?...Yeah this is...What?...Oh shit!" I threw my phone onto the bed and as I was leaving my apartment I grabbed my jacket and keys. I can't believe I let this happen.

At the hospital I couldn't get my leg to stop bouncing, please let them be okay. Y/n's parent walked out crying with the doctor, I sat straight up in my chair as the doctor looked at me.
"I'm not going to sugar coat this for you alright?" I felt my heart drop to my stomach. That sentence...
"We don't think they'll make it through the night. There is major brain damage, and even if they were to make it. They will never live the same again." My brain couldn't wrap around it. Why them? They did nothing wrong. "What do you mean never live the same?" I asked choking on tears. The doctor sighed.

"Well, we've ran loads of test. And it looks like there is a 98% chance that they will not be able to walk, speak or even eat properly. I've talked with the parent and they have made the  decision to start comfort measures." The doctor said.
