The trudge of confusion

I trudged back to my house in the most confused haze I had ever been in. I just didn't understand. What had Ryan just said? It was hard to comprehend. He had never said anything like that before let alone said he had loved me. Not only that but what's this pull I feel towards Miles? That constant feeling of wanting to be around him. It was like something was dragging me towards him and the closer I got the harder it was to explain.

Not only that but my mom and Jason had been together so much that was suspicious as well. Which means if they were together then... Well whatever I have with Miles would disappear and I have no idea what would happen if that pull I had towards him went away. It's been here since I first saw him I doubt it would just go away which could complicate my life in a whole other way. But then again as long as my mother is happy...

A soft sigh escaped my lips as I walked up to my house only to see Miles and our parents standing there smiling. I was so confused. What were they talking about? Why did their smiles seem so fake?

"What's going on?" I ask walking up to stand between my mom and Miles.

"We're going on a quest" Jason said a little cheerfully which may have been a bit unexpected.

"Yeah meaning you guys will be in charge. Jason and I used to be praetor. It would be nice to see you guys do what we did" my mom smiled gently at me but everything hit me at once. Like running getting a brick wall being thrown at you. I would be able to fulfill my dreams with one of my friends beside me and my mom would get to go on one last quest and she would be happy.

They would be happy. But what if it went wrong? What if I can't live up to standards?

"Can I excuse myself?" I asked but before I had an answer I ran into the house and up the stairs to puke up all the horrible thoughts I had just had.
