"You haven't spoke to me all day." I watched Mitch scribble on his homework. He was completely distracted by his thoughts. Today was his third day at school and he was actually fitting in pretty well. But he wasn't talking to me. "Mitch?"

"Jay invited me to a party this Friday. What is a party?" I sighed. He changed the subject. That wasn't what was preventing him from talking to me. I feel like it would be something that hurts me.

"It's a get together for humans. Mitch?" I went to touch his hand. But when my fingers came in contact with his, he gasped and his eyes turned a solid glowing blue. He fell out of the chair to get away from me. He blinked, his eyes returning to normal.

"St-tay away." I could see his bottom lip quivering.

"Mitch-"

"No. D-d-don't." He shuffled back against the wall. I had no idea what had happened to him. I came to kneel in front of him. He was completely frightened. His fear was getting stronger. Todrick was right about emotions growing. Mitch was hiding his face in his bent knees. I touched his shoulder. I saw his eyelids become a glowing red to signal they were shining brightly. "Stop! I can't take it anymore!"

"What's going on?" I pulled my hand away.

"Every time you put your hand on me, I see that boy." My eyebrows drew together. He saw Nick? What about Nick?

"What about him?" Mitch didn't look up at me. He flinched away from my hand. I hope I wasn't hurting him. "Mitch? What about Nick?"

"He doesn't love you. Not like you love him. Every time he stares at you, he thinks about having sex with you. He doesn't think about anything else." I fell back on my butt. I felt so defeated. His arms came to wrap around my neck. I heard his whimpering. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you yesterday. I thought that's what humans do." My arms came to wrap around him. I rubbed his back gently.

"It's okay. I don't blame you." He let out a relieved sigh. He pulled away to look at me.

"I thought you were going to dislike me for a long time." I couldn't stop the smile that was coming onto my lips. He was absolutely adorable.

"I would never hate you, Mitch." I gently touched him and his eyes stayed brown. "Is that how your guilt manifests?" He nodded shyly. My hand brushed against his cheek. I wonder what it would be like to be an angel.

"It's not fun." He answered the question that I asked in my head. How- "We're bonded, Scott. Don't you remember? Guardian angel? You're hurt." He grabbed my hand. I must have gotten a paper cut because there was a small slice that was beading out blood. He moved forward to kiss me but I stopped him.

"It's just a paper cut."

"I don't want you to be in any pain, Scott." He came forward again and I let him. His lips pressed against mine in a short kiss. He pulled away, his nose bumping against mine as he smiled with a giggle.

"Well, I see you've been busy." I glanced towards the entrance to the family room. My parents were standing there with their eyebrows raised. Then I realize how Mitch and I looked. His face was inches from mine and he was in between my legs with his arms on the ground to support him.

"Wait! Mom, Dad, I can explain." Mitch sat down on his legs and looked innocently up at my parents. God, that didn't help.

"Explain."

"Well, Mitch and I we-"

"I took advantage of our position." I glanced over at Mitch. He was lying for me? "It's just been that Scott has been so nice to me since I came here. I guess I thought I needed to try hard to be friends with your son." Mitch stood up and held out a hand to pull me up. My parents were smiling with approval at Mitch.

"Would you like to stay for dinner, Mitch?"

"I would be delighted." We were pretending to work on our homework. Mitch had already finished his. He would always finish his homework at lunch so he had an excuse not to eat. "Jay has the same thoughts about me as Nick had about you. But he's much nicer. He thinks I'm beautiful." I scoffed.

"Mitch, I think you're beautiful. But that doesn't mean that I want you to jump in bed with me."

"You enjoyed sex with Nick." He stated it. I looked down at math homework. "Will I enjoy sex with Jay? Or will sex with you be better?"

"Who says it has to be a boy, Mitch?" I teased him. He didn't pick up on my tone. He thought for awhile.

"Will sex with Kirstie be good?" I couldn't help bursting out in uncontrollable fits of laughter. He was looking at me completely clueless. I regained myself.

"I was joking. Remember what I taught you? Haha funny?" His eyebrows drew together.

"I can't read your mind unless you want me to. It easier to know when I can. Then people think about how hard they are going to make me laugh." He seemed bored. I don't think he liked human life. But I don't think he liked being an angel. He just didn't like being here. "I like being here." I noticed his hand on my knee. "I like being here with you. You and your friends, even with numerous mistakes, give me hope in humanity." I was staring at his lips as he spoke.

"You know I'm going to return you home, right, Mitch?"

"I have faith in you. You are the first human that I kissed and I'm glad I did. It's nice to know I can finally trust someone." He looked down at his hands sadly. I saw a ripple of black writing go up his arm before quickly disappearing. It looked like someone wrote on him like a Japanese scroll. Then there was a voice in my head.

An angel who betrays his creator shall never see the sun set on the soil of earth.

"What was that?"

"Hm?" Mitch looked up at me. He didn't know what I was talking about.

"The voice."

"What voice?" I looked at him but he didn't have any idea what I was talking about.

"What about the writing on your arm?" He glanced down at his arms.

"Scott, are you okay?" I stood up from the chair and it clattered to the ground.

"There was a voice after writing appeared on your arm. It was a deep voice and it said-" I began choking on air as I tried to repeat the words.

"Scott?!" He came to help me. His hand gently went to touch my throat. I saw his lips part slowly in realization. He grabbed my chin and brought my mouth down to his. He blew what seemed like air. But air doesn't tingle when it spreads through my body. I caught Mitch's body before he collapsed. He returned the air to my body. He saved me. But....

What the hell happened?
