I open my eyes to the sound of Laney's obnoxious alarm going off. I look over at her clock, 6:00 am. She reaches over her head and hits the button, stopping the life sucking beeping.
"You know, most people prefer music, or even some lame tune from their phone, to that shit first thing in the morning." I say, getting up and walking over to my closet.
"Yes, so you tell me at least once a week. Maybe we should skip class and get the boys for a huge breakfast at IHOP. Would that help your morning mood?" Laney says, pulling her blankets up over her head.
"That, Laney Squire, is the best idea you've had all day!"
"It's the only idea I've had all day, seeing how my day, has only been two minutes long so far. Give me ten minutes while you shower, then I'll text Nate and Jax. They're probably still passed out from last night anyway."
"Make that twenty, I'll bring you a Monster on my way back." I say, grabbing my bag of shower stuff and a towel.
I open the door walking out into the hall. Mack Hall is a coed dorm, girls on the upstairs floors, boys down. The doors at each end of the dorm lock at 10:00pm, from the stairwell side. You're only able to get back upstairs if you have someone who will let you in. Same with trying to get to the boys floor, only if someone will open it for you. The doors open again at six each morning. Somehow this safety measure keeps the guys and girls from spending the night on each others floor. Sure it does.
As I walk down the hall towards the bathrooms, I see three guys making their way back downstairs.
"Hey, Kyle. Will you take notes for me in biology this morning? I have at least two plates of pancakes calling to me." I say, walking up behind Kyle Martin. He's Carla's boyfriend. Her room's next to ours.
"Sure, Star. As long as you do the same in history of civ this afternoon. Yeah, no pancakes calling, just my lazy ass." He says, grinning.
Kyle's rediculously hot, like almost unbelievable. He and Carla have been together since last year, about the second day of school, when they met at the OSU freshman mixer. He's majoring in history, same as me, so we have a lot of the same classes together each semester.
"Sure. Thanks."
"Always." He gives me a wave and continues down the hall as I turn into the bathroom.
At six in the morning there's usually just a few people in the bathroom. People usually wait as long as possible to get ready for their early classes, or just skip it all together, like me. I stop and look at myself in the mirror. My brown long hair is a mess and I have a huge hicky on the left side of my neck.
Nice.
I walk past the bathroom stalls into the shower area, into one of the empty showers. I pull open the curtain and walk into the small area before the shower stall, putting my bag on the hook and pull out my shampoo and conditioner, body wash, poof and razor. So much crap. Guys probably walk in with a washcloth and soap. I pull the shower curtain back and turn the water on, getting it warm. I take off my pajamas and drop them at my feet, scoop up my many bottles and get into the shower.
Bending over I drop my stuff on the little shelf inside the shower stall, and step into the water. The water pours over me, warming my freezing body. It's always cold in the dorms, but now at the end of winter, beginning of spring, it's like an ice box. The water makes me involuntarily shiver, goosebumps forming all over me.
I close my eyes, putting my face in the water. Pancakes sound delicious right now. I'm always starving after drinking the night before.
Suddenly I hear the curtain pull back, and feel arms wrap around my waist.
"How's my favorite addiction this morning? You feel amazing." He says, his voice low and raspy.
"Mmm, so do you. You're up early." I say, turning around and facing Jax.
Jax is six feet tall, brown shaggy hair, bright blue eyes, and absolutely delicious. He's also all mine.
"Yeah, assholes next door woke us up with their shit music."
"Is Nate in my room?" I say, pulling him into the water with me.
"Oh, he's probably in more then just your room by now. How about we give them some time and I can make sure your morning starts off right." He says, crushing his lips on mine.
Um...yes, please.

Jax and I finish our extremely hot shower. He's dressed, I'm still in my towel. We walk back to my room, knocking once, then opening the door slowly.
Please do not let me catch Nate naked.
As we walk in, I see Laney and Nate sitting on her bed, both on their phones. Laney looks up, giving me a look.
I see, sitting on my bed, my mom and dad.
Fantastic.
"Star! Sorry, I see you have company. Well it looks like you're at least both clean! Hello, Jax." My Dad says, smiling.
"Hey, Mr. Kelly. We're just getting ready to go out for pancakes. Wanna join us?" Jax says.
"No, thank you, Jax. We have some things to do today. We just stopped by to give Star her monthly check." Mom says, standing up.
"Thanks, Mom." I say, standing here awkwardly in my towel, everyone else fully dressed.
"Baby, spend that money wisely. That's the last spending money we'll be giving you. Your Mom and I have been talking, and since your grades seem to be getting worse each semester, we've decided you need to get a job. Make your own fun money! Of course we'll still pay your tuition and school related expenses. No worries, I found you a job working in the school library. You'll have plenty of quiet time to get your studying done, and I'm sure your grades will get back to where they should be before you know it." Dad says, coming up to me and giving me a hug.
"You start Friday night, Star. Enjoy your week." Mom walks past me, without a hug as usual, and giving Jax a smug look. Dad smiles, and claps Jax on the back on his way out.
"Oh my God, Star. It was torture sitting here with your parents! Nate tried to escape and leave me with them alone, but no way I was letting that happen." She says, elbowing Nate and causing him to drop his phone.
"Ouch! Yeah awesome, your parents walked in on us. Way to ruin the mood." Nate says.
"You're getting a job?" Jax says, looking at me.
"Yeah, I guess so. Why does it have to be Friday's of all nights?!" I say, looking at Jax.
"So, Star! Working Friday nights at the library! Good times huh?" Nate says, laughing.
Good times.
