Edwards POV

I arrive at a Carmine's shipping yard that he prefers to attend himself because of its high value. He might have a lot of guns and men but all of that is easily trampled by the mind! I stealthily make my way over to encounter the first brute, instantly I put him in a sleeper hold and he falls to the ground. Then next men were also of no effort, I swear it is like they aren't even trying.

I make it to his fancy back limo/car pulling out my gun and shooting the guards in the head. I pull open his door, "Get out!" I yell. Carmine sticks his hands out and comes out of the vehicle, hands over his head. Something isn't right, this is too easy. The dim light from the Gotham moon highlights his evil grin, "Something funny? You realise I'm about to blow your f**king brains out right?"

He chuckles deeply, "Wouldn't do that if I was you, boy."

"You're up to something... Snipers?" I say looking around.

"No."

"Doesn't matter. I'll still get the shot off before they kill me."

"Oh, no one will be killing you. I can assure you that." he smirks. A dark uneasy feeling overwhelms me at this point. "You know.... I'm in a tricky business. I do what I can to keep it going and that also means for me to try and secure my life until my last breath. I wish to die peacefully Nygma and you're trying to take that from me."

I walk forward putting the cold barrel to his head. "I'm amazed someone else hasn't done it first. Lucky me. People like you deserve to die. And people like me get to pull the trigger and rot in a cell perfectly content and dreaming to relive the moment over and over and over again."

"Oh, what? Your girlfriend isn't in that picture?"

"Don't you dare f**king talk about her you a**hole. She's the reason you're in this mess." I growl almost pulling the trigger. I am ready to kill him, I can. However, there is something in his steel eyes that were mocking me. And I can't pull the trigger without knowing the answer to his puzzle. What is making him so confident!? Nothing can scare me from what I'm about to do.

"Funny, I was gonna say the same to you." he laughs. There it is. It clicked. In a split second I slam him on the cement of the ship yard and have the gun over one of his eyes. "Figured it out, huh? Well you're right. I have Loreli. And if you kill me, she dies."

"You're lying. She's safe."

"Is she now? Safe a 146 Wesmoore lane? Is that it?"

I freeze, he knows. He has Loreli! "What have you done to her!? Where is she!!"

"Get in the car and I'll show you." he points to the car, the driver already has the door open for us. I point the gun at Falcone and nudge for him to get in first. He goes in with no complaints. The interior was dark from the deeply tinted widows and the black leather seats. The driver got in his seat, turned on the car and started driving.

Falcone relaxed in his seat even with me pointing the gun at him. He reaches over carefully grabbing a glass and bottle of wine. He is about to pour some but first offers some to me, I make no response causing him to shrug and pour some for himself. He drinks it without a care in the world making a satisfyed "Ahh," sound after he finishes it. The rest of the ride is unbearable, I can't do anything. All I can think about is the misery they could be putting Loreli through. Why did I ever come into her life!? Why couldn't I leave well enough alone!?! I've ruined everything. I screwed up. If my old man were here now he'd be right. I'm worthless, useless, pathetic.

"You never answered me... Do you see Loreli in your future?"

"...that's none of your business." I shut him down.

"Wrong, it's completely my business. I hold her life in my hands, we both do. So... Do you see you two being together? A happy life, kids, a dog?"

"... No." I say disappointed.

"No? Why's that you think you'll fail?" a he asks with curiosity.

"That's not it. Our world doesn't suit her. She's better off without me... Falcone... don't kill her. She's only in this cause I came into her life. Kill me instead!! She doesn't deserve this!! Let her go!!!" I hate to be reduced to pleading but if Loreli's life is on the line, it's worth it.

"We'll see how it goes." he smirks. The vehicle comes to a stop, the driver opens the door allowing us to get out. It's a metal white warehouse, the paint peeling and the metal rusting. The place is in the middle of no where and anyone who would hear anything will most likely not report it. Thus making it a perfect location for then to do something like this. My heart races, knowing Loreli is trapped in there with probably a gun to her head. If this goes awry I'll never be able to live with myself. Life would be the definition of meaningless to me.

We walk in and immediately two men point their guns at me. Seeing no point in trying to fight two shotguns I drop my hand gun. Another man goes to pick it up and walks off. They pat me down and find a spare gun, plus a knife. "Are we done!? Take me to Loreli!!" I say peremptorily.

"I just had to make sure you won't do anything stupid." Carmine states calmly. Carmine points ahead at a pair of double metal doors.

A pair of doors that will forever haunt me.

(Short but necessary¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I love suspense!! O(≧▽≦)O )
