Edwards POV

I ride in the Batmobile once again as Batman comes back out the building. No doubt he half expected me to be gone. But that would be utterly pointless. I would only be tempted to find her again by doing that. I did not want it to end like how it did. I did not want it to ever end. I sigh to myself as I stare at my cuffs that the Bat put on me.

"Nygma..." Batman starts.

"Hm?" I say surprised at the fact that he is even speaking to me. The other times I was in here I was usually the one who did the talking if at all. His comments would usually revolve around 'Shut up'.

"I'll watch out for her." he reassures.

"...thank you." I nod. Upon those words we come to the dreaded gate of Arkham Asylum. The guard lets us through to the dark structure. Quickly, a few guards come out to take me inside. I look behind me at Batman, reassuring myself that he will take care of her. He nods as the doors close behind me.

Nothing has changed about this place. It is still as dreadfully dull as ever. Since Christmas, a lot of my 'friends' were caught. Therefore the now filled cells all cheer with glee of my return. I pass by some sad faces who bothered to think of how this could be a problem. Those who are sane enough to to remember the one person who changed everything for me. And now she's gone... No, now she's safe.

Solitary confinement... After a while you get used to it. Wrapped in a straight jacket, in a padded cell and only your thoughts. Usually, I would pass this kind of time to think up some new riddles to cripple Gotham with. But only one thing remains strapped in my mind... Loreli.

Loreli's POV

"So, what happened?" asked James as he came over with some hot chocolate for the both of us. He took me to his place due to it being too cold for me to go to my place at the hour. I'm grateful, but I didn't really care whether he'd of left me there or not. "Come on Loreli, what happened?"

I look up at him not even realizing that he had already given me my hot beverage. I'm so out of it I didn't even notice how much the glass was burning my ice cold hands. I set the drink on the table and let out a small sigh, "Things just didn't go my way today... Eddie and I... We had a fight. Or something like that. But like I said he really didn't do this to me. I think we just broke up..."

"Oh..." James says in a bit of shock. "So I guess you just lost a job too." I sighed, as if I didn't have enough bad news already. Now I have the realization that I've lost my boyfriend, job, and eventually home. I sipped some of my drink not responding to what he said. "Gee, Lor, I'm sorry. But hey that guy would have to be crazy to want to give up a girl like you. I mean... You're just amazing."

I smirk, "That's sweet of you. Thanks for that."

"You're welcome." he smiles. "Look, I have to ask. It's gonna bother me forever if I don't."

"How'd I get these scars?" Loreli says with a small smirk. "I just ran into some trouble on the way home. I handled it. Don't worry, they didn't do anything but a few bruises and scratches." I give my best lie.

"Well they really over did it! Even your clothing is all torn up. Let me get you a T-shirt." he said getting up and going to his room then coming back with said item. I take it and put it on over my shredded shirt. I nod my head as thanks again. He returns it happily. "Here, how about some TV?" he says searching for something to lighten the mood, turning it on.

" Breaking News! After months of hiding and a few schemes Gotham's notorious criminal The Riddler aka Edward Nygma has been captured by.. You guessed it! The Batman!" my chest tightens at her words. I look over at James who seems to not have noticed or payed attention. Doing my best to remain composed I sit there numbly listening. "We've been told by sources that the Nygma was taken into Arkham with multiple wounds far more drastic than what he'd get squabbling with the caped crusader. Though there have been times for our local vigilante to go a bit overboard. We now look to Commissioner James Gordon for a statement..."

The commissioner appears on screen in uniform. His greying hair slicked back and mustache perfectly groomed. "I don't know anything about Edward Nygma's condition. But I'm sure that the Batman knew what he was doing." he states briefly. The flashing cameras and tons of reporters erupt with questions until he calls on one asking of Edward being in hiding for so long. "Edward Nygma is a devious and mentally disturbed man--"

"No he isn't!" I stand up and yell at the screen thus startling James who at the time is playing with a Rubix cube. The TV continues the report as we freeze in the silence. "I-I--" words try to be forced out as an excuse but nothing comes. James looks as me completely confused as to why I'd be standing up for a person I don't know, let alone a criminal. After our pause he moved, shifting his gaze to the TV for answers. And the answer appeared, nicely wrapped up with a big bow and all. The TV had on the screen the reporter at her desk relaying the news and a picture of my now ex beside her.

James stood up slowly, his eyes blinking to take in the sight. His head then began snapping between me and the screen. I didn't move I just stood still, waiting. "L-Loreli...." he started. The tears begin brimming as he moves closer to me. This awful pain in my chest hurts so damn much. Hearing about Edward hurts, living without Edward hurts! I start wiping away the tears only to find something new and odd... Lips against mine....
