Loreli's pov

Knock knock.

Edward opens his door and looks at me surprised. "Loreli? What are you doing here?"

"I work for you don't I?" I raise a brow.

"Well yeah but I was gonna send someone to go get you." He says letting me inside. "How'd you get here?"

"Well, with my lack of a car I took the bus to the closest stop and walked the rest of the way." I smile proudly.

"That's the dumbest thing you could do in Gotham, Lor. Use your head you could've gotten mugged or killed. Do you have a death wish!?"

He's so cute being protective, "Well I'm fine. See." I gesture to myself. "I didn't even trip. Besides I've got this." I pull out the emergency button he gave me the morning after we met. Not a scratch on it. I'm not sure why I kept it originally I suppose I had several chances to throw it out but I just didn't. It didn't really occur to me till recently that it could come in great handy. Ah, the perks of dating a criminal.

Edward examines it for a moment."You kept this?"

"I figured it'd come in handy one day." I smile and kiss his cheek. I wander into his living room and look around. I don't understand why he always insists he comes over to my place. I like his a lot more than mine, for one it's actually a house. "So boss. What would you like me to do first?"

"Well... You could call me Boss one more time." He smirks devilishly, snaking an arm around my waist.

"Now, now, Mr. Nygma. Just what kind of a girl do you think I am?" I say in a fake western accent. Edward laughs a hearty laugh. "Alright now seriously what is it that I'll be doing?"

"For now you are on phone duty. Answer whoever calls and tell me their messages." He says leading me down a hall. We come to a small office with double glass doors, a modest sized desk with blueprints scattered everywhere and a filing cabinet to my right, "This is your office. I know, I'll clear out all these blue prints when I can. I've gotta a lot of work to do so you'll have to beat with it for a while."

"Oh? What keeps you so busy?" I ask curiously.

"It's probably safer if you didn't know everything but I'll give you a brief summary. Just about everybody in this city is in desperate need of help from the one and only Edward Nygma." he gloats. I wonder how much hot air can get to his head before it pops?

"Interesting," I walk to the desk and scan over the blueprints, "You came up with all of these?" Not a single idea was repeated except the fact of always using riddles, but that's just Edward. I sometimes forget how much of a genius he is, he acts so normal when I talk to him. Little foot notes would be on the side editing his work and calculations not to mention the bat symbol marked out on each and every paper.

"Yep, impressed?" He says boastfully. I don't give him an answer since I know he already knows that I am. "Some of them could use some work. But I have no doubt that these will be considered some of my best." We jump when the phone rings. "Your on madam secretary." He smirks walking out of the office, I stick my tongue out at him but he's already gone.

Awhile later, I come out of my office. One freaking phone call, that's it. My entire day has been drowned in me waiting for that stupid phone to ring and all there had been is that one phone call. And it was just Jonathan Crane demanding to speak to Edward about who knows what. No one even called me on my own phone.
