Sry this one will be kinda short due to the terrible thing that is writers block.
Edward's POV
New year's eve. A time for change. And a time that me and Loreli wanted share at midnight. Right now it's 11:00 and me and Loreli are anticipating the new year.
"Have any new years resolutions?" Loreli asks, sprawled out on her couch.
"Nah, you?" I answer from the kitchen raiding her fridge.
"Hmmm, how about I'll have enough food for my criminal boyfriend to take so I can also eat." She jokes.
"Haha, excuse me if choose not to rob Whataburger once in a while." I walk into the living room with my sandwich and move her legs so I can sit down. "No, really, do you have one?"
"Well, I don't know... maybe I'll try to get along with my parents."
"Oh? What did they do to make you hate them?"
"They just never really took much of an interest in me. And after my... Breakdown they didn't visit me once or send a letter. I've always been a bit of a disappointment to them but my sister. That's a whole other story!" She scoffs. "To them she can do no wrong."
"I guess I can relate..." I mutter.
"You can?" She looks over at me surprised. I don't know why it's so surprising in the first place.
"Yeah... uh, my dad was sorta the same way. I was never really good enough. Uh... I'd come home with straight A's on my report card. And for some reason," I chuckle a bit, "I'd think 'maybe this time he'll be proud of me?'" I feel tears build up but I immediately push them back.
"Go on." Loreli holds onto my hand comfortingly.
"Uh... nah. I'm good." I say pulling my hand away.
"Edward..."
"Don't worry about it. It happened. Life moves on." I put my sandwich on the coffee table no longer feeling very hungry.
"Edward you can tell me anything you know that right? Come on, what happened?" I think it over. Well she is my girlfriend I guess this was bound to come up eventually.
It's a long silence before I decide to speak again, "Okay." I sigh. "So.... my mom died when I was young leaving me with my father. I'm still not sure why he hated me he just did... And so I'd go get an education everyday and everyday I went back to a father who could care less about me. I would try to do everything to get him to care so I tried by getting good grades. And he'd tell me 'You stupid little idiot. I know you cheated!' And then he'd beat me. Over and over and over again. I wasn't lying! Why didn't he believe me!?!" Loreli hugs me tightly but I don't hug back.
"Well look at you now. Big guy in Gotham. You have made quite the name for yourself. Edward I'll always be here for you, no matter what." she lays against my chest and closes her eyes. Just then the fireworks go off. "Happy New Year Edward."
"Happy New Year Lor."
I know it's VERY short o(╥﹏╥)o but I wanted something for the new year. Ideas? Anybody? I know where the story is going but... Getting there is the hard part. U know? So message me if you got something I can't promise that I'll use it exactly but it shall be a possibility. Anyways stay crazy and Happy New Year! ҉٩(*´︶'*)۶҉
