"Has he said anything?" Minho, Newt, Thomas, and I, followed Teresa to the hut Alby resides in. Jeff and Clint already in the room with him.
"No." Teresa replies bluntly.
Alby is awake now, sitting upright and on the side of the bed, his back facing us. A part of me is scared to move any further, worried that he'll lash out again but also curious to hear what he has to say.
Newt is the first to make a move towards him, a strike of fear coming across me as he sits next to him. "Alby?" He gently asks, no answer. "Alby, you alright?"
Thomas moves to Alby, crouching down in front of him. "Hey, Alby." He cautiously says, and I feel Teresa stiffen from next to me. "Alby, we might've just found a way out of the maze." Thomas tells him, but there's still no answer, and I'm growing more concerned by the second.
"Do you hear me?" Thomas asks, "We could be getting out of here." From what I'm able to see, Alby finally shows some movement by shaking his head, "We can't. They won't let us."
Thomas looks to Newt for a moment. Asking for help, I assume, but Newt says nothing in return. "What are you talking about?" Thomas asks Alby, "I remember." He says with a crack in his voice.
"What do you remember?" Thomas says, and Alby finally moves, looking to Thomas, "You."
I immediately look to Teresa, already meeting her blue eyes. "You don't think?" I ask her, trailing off. "No, it can't be. It's just a theory! It doesn't mean it's true!"
"You were always their favorite, Thomas." Alby continues, "Always."
I try my best to listen to Alby until a growing noise from outside the hut begins to distract me. Screaming and yelling, footsteps running, things breaking and being knocked over. Something is wrong.
Alby continues speaking as everyone in the room begins to hear the commotion outside, "Why did you do this? Why did you come here?" He asks Thomas, but Thomas runs out of the hut and we follow after, leaving Alby with Jeff and Clint.
The sun had been whisked away and the moon shines above us , other boys are running around frantically with torches in their hands. "Winston, what's going on?" Thomas asks, "The door! It isn't closing!" Winston yells. My eyes trail over to a large gap in the walls, a gap that should not be there.
We rush to one of the open doors and look inside the maze, Chuck is already here with three other boys. Teresa and I stand next to each other, facing the maze as my heart begins to race. I thought the maze was bad enough in broad daylight, seeing it at night is a completely different experience, terrifying to say the least.
Out of nowhere, an unbearable screeching sound permeates the Glade. I immediately cover my ears with my hands and look around to see everyone doing the same. The noise seems to lessen and I slowly take my hands off of my ears, believing we're safe until it screeches again. We immediately turn around and watch as another door opens.
Then another to our right, and another to our left.
I look back and forth at the sight surrounding me, all four doors are open.
Newt suddenly appears next to me, and as everything seems to be happening too fast and all at once, I feel Newt's hand slowly glide down my arm and intertwine with my own.
"I'm sorry. I just need someone right now." He whispers with a shaky voice. I squeeze his hand as my eyes dart around the glade, "Me too."
"Chuck." I hear Thomas begin, but I'm far too distracted to listen. "Winston, you go with him." Newt orders, which tells me that he was at least listening. "Got it." Winston says before running off with Chuck.
"Get the others. Tell them to go to the forest and hide! NOW!" Gally yells to someone, and my heart feels like it's gonna fly out of my chest. "Minho," Thomas says, "I need you to go and grab every weapon that you can find." Minho immediately nods and turns to Newt, a couple other boys, and me. "Let's go."
Every time my foot hits the ground, my fear seems to slap me in the face. But it doesn't matter how scared I am, or how I wish all of this was some terrible nightmare. No matter what happens, I have to fight.
"Stay safe, Y/n." Teresa says telepathically, and I can practically feel her eyes burning into me.
"I don't think that's an option right now."

Minho leads us to a hut in the forest, small but valuable.
"Okay, everyone grab a weapon and hurry. We need to make it back to the Council Hall before–" Minho is suddenly cut off by the sound of something screaming, not someone, something. Shortly after, multiple human screams begin to fill the air. "Hurry! They're already here!" Minho screams, and I frantically grab a large spear from next to me. We waste no time in running out of the hut, out of the forest, and back into the open field of the Glade.
It's unrecognizable. The Glade is lit up with multiple fires and looks to be painted with blood. The culprit of this mess stands a little too close for my liking as we stop in our tracks, too scared to move.
Eight mechanical legs sprout from the griever's hairy, fleshy torso. A mechanical tail that seems to stretch for miles with a claw-like tip hovers in the air, ready to sink itself into my body. It's face is nothing but a wide mouth and razor-sharp teeth.
It suddenly launches at us and we make a run for it. "Watch our for their tail!" Minho yells, "It's tip has a stinger and it will drive you mad in seconds!"
I look behind us, sighing in relief as the griever is no longer following us. "There!" I hear Minho shout, and I do my best to find where he's looking. Thomas, Teresa, and a few other boys are fighting a griever. They seem to be losing.
"On my cue!" Minho prepares the group, "One–"
He's shortly cut off by Frypan, a boy in our group who I exchanged names with not too long ago, screaming and throwing his spear at the griever, leading all of us to do the same. This luckily holds the griever back for a moment and gives all of us the chance to run to the Council Hall.
We're merely a few steps away when the ground leaves my feet without warning. Pain shoots up my side and I suddenly feel dizzy, the world blurring around me. It only becomes clear again when my head hits the ground and I see that the Council Hall is much farther now.
"Y/N!" I hear a variety of voices yell, but I'm afraid it's too late. As I grip my side, my eyes widen in fear as a griever crawls over me. I feel frozen.
