"So what's up?" Lucas asked while they were walking to the restaurant. Dakota looked up at him, nervously fiddling with the paper money in his pocket. He felt vulnerable with a one-hundred-dollar bill in his pocket, but Nick had insisted on him keeping it to pay for their meal.
Nick was overgenerous more often than not.
However, since Dakota didn't have a job- therefore, no money- he appreciated the help. Dakota didn't really think about having to pay for their meal.
"What do you mean?" he asked Lucas in return. Lucas was walking very close to Dakota, close enough to bump shoulders every now and then. Dakota assumed it was just Lucas's behavior around people he was comfortable with- like how a cat often rubs its side on humans that it likes.
"I mean, what is up with this random outing?" Lucas replied, "And why are you so dressed up for it? I mean-" his eyes quickly flicked to Dakota's chest, then inched lower, before they flicked back up- "I'm not complaining. You look kind of hot in those fitted clothes...Who am I kidding? You look really hot."
Dakota bushed from the compliment.
"Thanks," Dakota replied, "And I just wanted to, you know- Distract you. Like you wanted."
"Oh," Lucas replied, looking down at his own feet- almost as if he was confused or... disappointed, "Why a dinner date?"
"Well, I was just thinking we could talk about things we like to- you know- find other things to distract you," Dakota replied. Lucas smiled- more like smirked. He obviously tried hiding the smile by biting his lip- but Dakota could still see the corner of his lip curl up. "What?" he asked.
"Nothing," Lucas replied, "You are just so...hard to describe. You are really sweet, but also...really confusing."
"Thanks?" Dakota replied.
"So," Lucas announced, "Maybe while we are getting to know each other I could give you...a lesson?"
Dakota's eyes widened before he leaned- only a bit, since Lucas was so close- closer to the twink's listening ear.
"Sex lessons?" he whispered, then backed away and speaking louder, "In public?"
"Koty, as long as we don't shout, no one will care," Lucas replied, " We'll just get a booth in the restaurant. Speaking of which, where are we going?"
"It's just at the end of this block," replied Dakota, "And it's a surprise."
Suddenly, Lucas slotted his smooth hand into Dakota's.
Dakota jerked his hand away in surprise.
"Chill Koty," Lucas replied, taking his hand back and rubbing circles into the thumb, "No one will notice." Dakota looked around, and indeed, none of the few people seemed to care. Lucas and Dakota were standing too close together for their hands to be the most noticeable thing. Lucas smiled at Dakota with a happy grin, which made Dakota relax. It was a beautiful smile to see. "This is helping," Lucas assured, swinging their hands a little bit, "Distract me. I mean."
Dakota let him hold his hand the rest of the way. He felt panicked- as he always did when a boy tried to initiate romantic or sexual activities with him- but the panic was eased by Lucas's confidence and carefree smile. His thumb circling softly on the back of his hand.
Lucas relaxed him, in a way.
Their hands broke apart once they reached the small restaurant, which was a buffet-served restaurant. Lucas's eyes were alight, and his smile was endless- it was as if Dakota had given him the present of his life.
