(Trigger Warning for all those kiddos who don't like verbal or physical fighting)
Dakota could get used to waking up next to Lucas- next to a guy. Normally, he would wake up grumpy and irritated, but the first time he slept next to Lucas, he woke up with warm butterflies making a buzz in his chest.
He could smell a sweet scent coming off of Lucas's unnaturally blond hair. He could hear Lucas's soft snores- not quite loud enough to be heard from anywhere else. He had Lucas wrapped up in his arms and that felt amazing and warm and full of life.
It felt amazing to have someone to hold. To have your innocent dreams of childhood come true after dropping them in discouragement.
Needless to say, Dakota woke up happy.
Lucas did too, Dakota noticed. The raven-haired boy was greeted with a kiss and a sleepy smile. And Dakota wanted to replay that scene in his head every day. So, he did.
Friday morning he shyly proposed a new rule in their relationship: a mandatory morning kiss. In response, Lucas rolled his eyes and said, "Duh," as if it was an obvious rule that needed to be made.
So, every morning, whoever woke up first had to give the morning kiss. It was an innocent and playful rule- something that Dakota enjoyed. He assumed kinky relationships had more controlling, hardcore rules; however, Lucas didn't seem to mind that they were starting off with silly, cute rules. In fact, it seemed Lucas was giddy about them.
Then, they agreed on a second rule that day: Be honest about your feelings. The rule had exceptions of course. If they were not up to sharing, they would just have to say so.
After that rule was made, Lucas immediately confessed that he wanted a job to distract him when Dakota went back to school, but he also didn't have a clue what he was good at other than prostitution. Dakota was stumped too, so they teamed up with Nick to find Lucas a job.
Of course, they didn't tell Nick the purpose of the job or Lucas's previous job, but Nick still turned out to be a great help. The mothering father quickly printed a list of jobs out using Xavier's untouched home office; it was a list of all the potential jobs for a kid who dropped out of high school.
Lucas and Dakota lounged around with the list: Dakota read the jobs. Lucas would joke about them sexually.
"Okay...what about a substitute teacher?" Dakota suggested.
"Ooh sexy," Lucas commented evilly, "You have no clue what I could do with a desk." Dakota swore that his comments only existed to make him blush.
"There's also a position as a school janitor," Dakota replied, ignoring him to the best of his ability. It seemed, however, Lucas was determined to affect Dakota in some way.
"Let's just say," Lucas smirked, then winked, "You shouldn't give me a broom."
"I don't know what you're implying, and I really don't want to know," Dakota huffed, then perked up, "How about a dog walker?"
"Ew. All that slobber? Disgusting," Lucas wrinkled his nose, "I'd rather get on my knees and beg like one instead."
In the process of finding Lucas a job, the blonde had accidentally given Dakota a lot of fantasies to think about.
After they gave up job hunting, the pair noticed that Nick had gone upstairs to the family's home gym to do his daily workout. Dakota decided to join him- after all, he likes being decently strong in order to feel safe. Lucas sat and watched for the duration of the workout until he got curious about the punching bags.
Or maybe he was trying to get a sweaty, shirtless Dakota to come up behind him and teach him the correct way to use them. But Lucas wouldn't tell Dakota if his assumptions were correct.
