Nobody knows how it happened. The only thing that anybody knows is that strange creatures started showing up everywhere, disrupting the lives of humans. 

They were called Akuma, (yes i translated demon to japanese- shut up.) and were absolutely lethal.

Each one had the strength of two men and sharp claws that could cut through wood. They killed certain humans and animals and fed on their flesh. They could smell blood from up to a mile away. Their only weakness was their speed.

An akuma's build was somewhat like that of a humans, except they walked on all fours and their skin was purple or green; females had purple skin and males had green skin. Their faces were ghastly and they had piercing, dark red eyes. The skin was hard and rough, with spikes lining the spine. Some had short, stubby horns on their heads. Some had more big and sharp ones. Yellowish fangs stuck out of their mouths. Most wore torn clothes around their bodies. 

They had venomous sacs near their mouth, injecting chemicals into anyone they bit. That's how the population grew. The chemicals changed the body structure of humans, making them into akuma as well. 

It's what every human feared.
