A/N Yay another update! Sorry, it's a little later in the day than I usually post. I was eating chocolate and gummies. It's here now though! It's a Valentines special. (as if you didn't know that, it's literally in the chapter title.) Please don't take offence to anything, similarities are purely coincidental. Nothing else to say. Enjoy the chapter.
My friends, Ellie and Annabeth, and I walked down the hallway towards the study hall of Golden Gate High (A/N Wow I'm so creative. I don't know if that's a real place or not, but whatever.). Today was the Valentines Day Dance, but none of us were going, so we opted for some girl time in the sure-to-be empty study hall. See, Annabeth's boyfriend lived in New York, so he wasn't here, and Ellie and I were waiting for the perfect men to come and sweep us off our feet. Of course, we could have gone solo to the dance, but none of us felt like it so we were going to the study hall.
We reached the doors and pushed them open, walking to the study hall. I let out a sigh of relief when I saw that Jocelyn, the school sl- bully wasn't there. (A/N Sorry if that's your name) It was silly to be afraid, she didn't even bully us three - or she didn't anymore. She used to bully all Ellie and I but at the beginning of this year, she and one of her goons were talking trash to us when Annabeth showed up. She'd told Jocelyn to stop, and when one of the goons tried to throw an extremely weak punch, she'd caught it, threw one of her own considerably stronger punches, and told them to back off. After that, they didn't bully us anymore, and that was the beginning of our friendship. I came back to reality just as Ellie suggested truth or dare. I nodded my head in agreement, well Annabeth responded positively as well. We sat in a circle, and began.
-----Ava will take you to an hour later, but she's feeling rebellious about how I choose where and when she takes you to, so I apologize if you end up in the wrong place.-----
"Annabeth, truth or dare," Ellie said, as I giggled at the sight of Ellie coming back from her last dare covered in pink glitter. I had dared her to go to the "Couples Corner" and yell "Love is stupid!". The Couples Corner was a sort of station that a couple of love crazy girls has set up in an empty classroom. You and your significant other could go their to get.........I don't know, couply stuff. I wasn't going there, those girls are crazy. I mean, when Ellie had yelled that love is stupid, they apparently threw glitter at her! Can you blame me for not wanting to go there?! "Um, I'll do dare this time, I did truth on my last turn," Annabeth responds to Ellies query. "Okay let's see...... I dare you to-" She was cut off by a song playing from the speakers. The playlist we'd been listening to had run out about fifteen minutes ago so we were all confused. I quickly recognized the song as A Thousand Years, by Christina Perri. Apparently Annabeth did too, for she was listening to the song with her eyes closed, a small, dreamy smile spreading across her face.
I was facing the door, so I could see when they opened and a boy about our age walked in. He had black hair and sea green eyes, and looked super familiar. My brow furrowed as I tried to remember where I'd seen him before. My eyes widened as I realized where I recognized him from. He was the boy from the picture Annabeth had showed us! He was Percy, Annabeth's boyfriend. And he was walking straight towards her. Ellie and I stared at him, she had recognized him before I did. He smiled at us and held a finger to his lips. The lyrics started as Percy walked up to Annabeth and placed his hand on her shoulder.
Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall?
But watching you stand aloneAll of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow
Annabeth stands, tensing, but when she sees Percy, she steps closer to him and they kiss.
One step closer
