A/N Another chapter. Read on, Human Beans.
I flop onto my bed as Annabeth examines my bookshelf and heave a sigh. "I know I failed that History quiz. Ms. Kellen is going to kill me! Why did she give us a pop quiz without telling us anyway, and right before the weekend so now I'll be worried about it. It's totally unfair," I grumble.
Annabeth, who I met in our dreaded History class turns to me with an amused expression on her face. "You know that if she told us we were having a pop quiz, it wouldn't be a pop quiz. Plus, she warned us that there would be a quiz sometime this week or next week. Most teachers wouldn't even do that, so count yourself lucky."
"What?!" I exclaim. "When did she tell us that? Why didn't I know?"
She sits in my desk chair. "Probably because you were too busy staring at Adam to pay attention to what Ms. Kellen was saying."
I can feel myself blushing even as I speak. "Well, it's not my fault he got all the perfect genes. Besides, you wouldn't know how it feels. You already found your true love with Mr. Perfect Percy who you won't let me meet!"
Annabeth rolls her eyes at that. "It's not that I won't let you meet Percy. It's that he lives across the country."
"Details, details. I better meet him before we go to college. This is our last year in the torture they call High School, you know. Speaking of college, you better stay in touch with me. What am I supposed to do without you there to help me understand things?"
She raises her eyebrows, which, for some reason, is an expression I get a lot from her. "The same thing you did before you met me?"
I sit up on my bed - finally - and lean against the headboard. "Before I met you, I was barely passing. College will be ten times harder, so I'd really prefer not to go back to that. And don't you go thinking I've forgotten about Perfect Percy. I still need to meet him."
"Alright, alright. He's actually coming here tomorrow and we're going on a date, I'll ask if he wants to meet you."
I sit up straight on my bed. "Seriously?! Finally!!"
-----Ava has arrived and will now take you to the next day at the park, where Sophie will finally get to meet Percy-----
I pulled into a parking spot at the park. I was meeting Annabeth and Percy there, and we would have a picnic lunch, before they went off on a private date, doing who knows what. Actually, I could probably guess (likely something with kissing involved), but I prefer not to. I grab the basket holding lemonade and rice krispie squares from the passenger seat. Last night it was decided that I would bring drinks, dessert, and picnic blanket, while Annabeth and Percy take care of the actual food. Most people would go for brownies on a picnic, but I've always been partial to rice krispie squares. Brownies have been ruined for me ever since my annoying little brother hid a live caterpillar in mine once. I shudder just thinking about it. Brothers.
I set up the blanket and am just pulling out the lemonade when I see Annabeth and a boy walking hand in hand towards me. I recognize him from pictures Annabeth has showed me. As a matter of fact, Annabeth keeps a picture of him pinned to the bulletin board above her desk.
They arrive at the spot I chose for our picnic, and sit down. The boy stretches out his hand for me to shake and starts to introduce himself. "Hi, you must be Sophie. I'm-"
I interrupt him before he can get any further. "You're Perfect Percy!"
He blinks a couple of times and glances at Annabeth, who is getting out the food, for help before turning back to me. "Um................What?"
"You're Perfect Percy! I call you that because when Annabeth talks about you, she goes on and on about how perfect you are."
They both blush at that, and I grab a sandwich and start chowing down. We talk about nothing and everything while we eat, and I go to pull out the rice krispie squares.
I was just pouring myself another cup of lemonade, when suddenly and snake with a head at both ends came slithering out of the woods beside us. I let a small scream out, but Annabeth and Percy just seem annoyed - and Percy is vocal about his frustration. "Seriously? This was supposed to be a day off, without any stupid amphisbaena interrupting!"
Apparently the - what did he call it? - amphisbaena doesn't like being called stupid, because both of its heads hiss and it slithers closer menacingly. To my extreme shock, Annabeth pulls out a bronze dagger, while Percy's sword seems to come out of nowhere. They make short work of the amphisbaena, which turns into golden dust, while I stare, wide-eyed.
Annabeth turns to me, and seems to notice my surprise for the first time. "Did you see that, Soph?"
"Um, yeah." I respond, trying to keep my cool even though I'm internally freaking out. "That was a giant snake with two heads. And you guys had glowing bronze weapons that turned it to dust. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I saw that."
They share a look, before Annabeth speaks again. "Sophie, you said that your dad disappeared before you were born, right?" I answer with a shaky nod, and they exchange looks once again, and then Annabeth holds out her dagger. "Can you touch this?" I reach out my hand, and the metal is cool to my touch. "Okay, don't freak out, but we have a lot of talking to do."
And that was how I discovered that I'm a demigod - how I met Percabeth, which quickly became my OTP. I haven't been claimed yet, but I'm happy at Camp Half-Blood, and come the next school year, I'll be heading to New Rome for collage with Percabeth. So I guess in the end, Annabeth can help me with college.
A/N Okay, that technically wasn't a mortal meeting Percabeth, but hey, I'm the author of this fanfic, I can do what I want. Anyways. THANK YOU PEOPLE SO MUCH FOR OVER 5K READS!!!!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH THIS MEANS TO ME!!!!!!!! Okay, bye.
