A/N Hello, my few readers! I gift you with another chapter! Okey dokie, this one will be a little different. So, this is set between the end of The House of Hades and the beginning of The Blood of Olympus. The seven are in Epirus after having left the House of Hades. They're on their way back to the Argo II. Deacon is a citizen of Epirus. And guess what! I actually did the research on names and stuff in Epirus! I'm so proud of me. Please don't take offence to anything, any similarities are purely coincidental. Yeah, I think that's all. Enjoy!
I was sitting on the curb when I first saw them. Mamá had asked me to get some milk from the corner store, and said I could treat myself to a popsicle as well, considering it was a hot summers day. I was sitting on the curb eating my popsicle when eight teenagers walked out on the street seemingly out of nowhere. I think I might have been able to convince myself that they walked out of a store, and continued on with my day, if it hadn't been for their appearance. Each and every one of them was beaten, battered, and bruised. They seemed extremely protective of each other, and it was obvious that some of them were couples. I wasn't a psychic or anything, but it was fairly obvious who was with who. One of the couples, that I would probably say had been together the longest, was a boy with messy black hair and broken sea green eyes, whose arm was protectively around the shoulders of a girl with curly blond hair who had the same broken look in her grey eyes. These two looked the worst out of the bunch and were both supporting each other. The couple next to them seemed like they hadn't been together for very long, but it was obvious they were made for each other. There as girl, maybe thirteen or fourteen, who had curly cinnamon coloured hair and eyes, that though they looked weary, shone a bright gold. She was holding hands with a boy who looked a couple of years older than her and had military cut black hair and soft brown eyes. The next couple consisted of a girl who had choppy brown hair and eyes that are impossible to describe, though if I had to, I'd say they were like kaleidoscopes with boy who had piercing blue eyes and blond hair that had a groove in one side. Along with these six, though clearly not a couple, were two boys. One had curly black hair and brown eyes, with a face that seemed like it should always be grinning, though there was currently no smile there. The other boy had messy black hair, just like the first, though a bit longer, and eyes that looked almost black.
They walked down the street in the direction of my house. I stood, threw my popsicle stick in the garbage, and followed them, intrigued by their appearances. You don't usually see people who look like they've been through a war in this part of town. As we passed my house, I ducked in the door to drop the milk off. I told Mamá that I was going on a walk and returned to following the group of teenagers. I followed them all the way to Pisina Beach, a place where ships often moored. They seemed to be heading toward a big ship at the end of the dock. As far as I could tell, it was just a private cruise ship or something. It looked high end though, I wasn't sure why the eight beat up teenagers were heading toward it. Or why they were beat up. I mean seriously, (A/N*cough* Siriusly *cough*) the blond girl wasn't even walking straight. She kept limping and almost collapsed twice already. The others weren't much better. I guess one of their parents owned the ship or something. And as for why they were beat up, I guess some thug thought they were loaded (they probably are if one of their parents own the ship) and decided to see what they could get.
The blond girl was about to step onto the dock when her injured foot caught on something and she fell, wincing in pain, though she didn't make a sound. I couldn't stay hidden anymore. I doubted the beat up teens had any medical supplies or they would've used them already, and I did. Mamá never let me leave the house without a first aid kit. She's overprotective that way. I rushed forward to help them. The couple with the gold-eyed girl and and the boy with the military cut hair noticed me first. The girl gave me a weak smile. "Hi, can I help you?" I wasn't sure how to start, but I decided to just go for it. "Uh, hi. I was actually wondering if I could help you. I have a first aid kit........" By now the others had noticed me standing there awkwardly. They all shared a look, before the gold-eyed girl spoke again. "Sure, thanks. I'm Hazel by the way." Oops. I forgot to tell them who I was. I scratched the back of my neck awkwardly. "I'm Deacon....." The rest of them spoke. "Frank." "Nico." "Piper." "Jason" "Leo McShizzle." It seemed like the Leo guy usually said that, but with more enthusiasm. As though he always said it when introducing himself, and couldn't bring himself to break the tradition, even if it wasn't really the time. I just nodded. "Percy." "Annabeth." I stood there for a moment before remembering the reason I had talked to them in the first place. I reached into my bag and pulled out my kit. The one called Hazel took it from my hands with a small smile and brought it over to the Annabeth girl.
After they had finished with the kit and handed it back to me, they thanked me again and, after saying goodbye, made their way to the ship. I never saw them again, but knew I would always remember them.
A/N Whelp, that was crap. *starts sobbing uncontrollably* I'm sorry! I'm also in a hella lot of pain, so don't make mean comments. *sighs at the fact that I'm only twelve but I've been experiencing this pain for a year*. Anywho, at least I got a chappie up. It's miracle! AND UNITATOS RULE!!!!!!!! Bye, Human Beans!
