A/N *le gasp* What is this? A teacher? Will she be nice? Will she be mean? Who knows? (*cough* me *cough*)

Sylvia Blackthorn pov

I idly tidied the classroom as I prepared to leave the school. I'd been planning out tomorrow's activities since the students left. I taught kindergarten wasn't much lesson planning to do, but it was still neccessary to plan out the day.

Tomorrow, September 28th, I would be recieving a new child, Luke Jackson. Apparently his parents, Percy and Annabeth, had had some sort of urgent, near life-or-death situation, causing Luke to have to stay with his parent's close friends at some sort of year-round camp until they could get him - I wasn't really clear on the details. I wondered what sort of situation could cause that to happen, but it wasn't my place to pry, and if they said it was that urgent, then I believed them. I'd met them a couple days ago when we were sorting out Luke's placement, and they seemed like trustworthy people.

The one thing I hoped was that, urgent situations aside, Percy and Annabeth had had time to teach their son something. I had one kid in my class a couple years back, Diana, whose parents both worked. They left her with a nanny 24/7 and when she came to my class at the age of six, she'd barely known how to count to 5. But then again, Annabeth and Percy didn't seem like neglectful parents, so that hopefully would not be the case.

I greeted the children as they came into my classroom one by one. I had a relatively small class of about 16 children - 17 with Luke, who had his first day today. Just then, I saw the familiar black haired Percy poke his head through the door. He waved at me and then a small boy with messy honey blonde hair and sea-green eyes walked through the doorway. He seemed a little nervous so I smiled at him as I walked over. "Hi there," I said gently. "You must be Luke. I'm Mrs. Blackthorn, your teacher. Would you like to play with the blocks?"

As soon as I said the word "blocks", his face lit up and he nodded vigourously. "Yes please Mrs Blackthorn," he exclaimed.

"Alright then, they're just over there," I said, pointing at the colourful building blocks.

As he ran off to play, I turned to Percy, who spoke. "Thank you. He's a little shy at first, but he should warm up to you pretty quickly." I nodded, and we exchanged a few more words before he had to leave for work, and I turned back to the children.

"Alright, it's home time! Clean up your area and wait for your parents to pick you up!" I called. The students were having play time with each other, as we did at the end of everyday. Parents started arriving to pick their kids up, or in some cases, they left to go to after school care.

I had just said goodbye to a girl named Molly, and her mom, when I saw a couple walking up the hall hand in hand. It was Percy and Annabeth. Luke saw them at the same time as I did, and he ran to his parents. When he reached them, Percy picked him up and swung him around so Luke was on his back, and Annabeth kissed his forehead. The family waved to me before turning away, headed back home.

A/N That was so so so so sooooooooooo short, I'm sorry.
