By the time we go downstairs for dinner, I'm feeling a bit more cheerful.. I have always loved coming to Noah's house for the happy air that is all around. We all help set the table and bring the food out. Noah's dad always prepares a full meal, appetizers, sides, main dishes, and dessert. His father was the baker at the local bakery but his cooking is just as good.

Once we all sit down the table is full of talk about what books we're reading and what was going on around town. Noah's dad is the kindest person I know, he always knows if someone is in need of something and how to get it to them. After the lively dinner we clear the table and wash the dishes. Noah's dad shoos us upstairs to finish our homework, reminding us that we have all of Sunday to hang out. That's another thing I love about Noah's dad. He cares about school, but in a way that makes me want to do my work, because he's so passionate about it. And he still understands what it's like to be a kid.

We go upstairs and I bring an extra seat to Noah's desk. He moves some papers and we get out our homework and work together in the friendly silence.
