Book 2:Chapter 5:Rescue Mission

Valtea, Lokkas, Yaren, Kaeriza and the Legion Commandos moved through the city streets in silence. Thus far, they haven't been discovered, but they still had to be careful. Several times, they had to hide as patrols of Alliance soldiers and Altiris Knights moved past them. "The prison isn't far. Lokkas, LC-3467, LC-4598, LC-9235, and LC-2114, secure us a ship. The rest, come with me" ordered Yaren.

Yaren quickly dispatched the guards with a mental assault, and they entered the prison. Then, a guard spotted them. Yaren dispatched her before she could raise the alarm. They kept going. Yaren stiffened as he felt a group of Altiris Knights nearby. And another mind wielder with them. They must have sensed them as well. "Hurry" said Yaren, and they walked faster.

They stopped before five Altiris Knights and a squad of Alliance soldiers. "We knew you would come here eventually" said the leader, the mind wielder Yaren sensed earlier. Valtea cursed and sent out a hail of ice spears and water whips. The Altiris Knights blocked with water, fire, earth, and air. The mind wielder dispelled her attack. Yaren countered his mind wielding with his own, essentially nullifying the effects of both. The Knights attacked each other, while the soldiers fired their blasters.

Yaren conjured a few metal disks and hurled them at his foe. Itreal deflected the attack and retaliated with an earth barrage, pummeling him with earth balls and cubes. Yaren twirled his double bladed energy sword in his hands, creating a yellow shield in front of him. Itreal attacked, slashing with his sword. Yaren conjured an earth wall, locking his sword in place and swung his energy staff, aiming for Itreal's torso.

Itreal released his sword and leapt over the attack. He grabbed Yaren's wrist, preventing him from attacking again, and pushed him away, as he locked his arm around Yaren's, and pressed on the hilt of his saber staff, pushing the blade to Yaren's neck. Yaren conjured a metal dagger and stabbed Itreal in the gut. Itreal released him and knocked him to the ground. He retrieved his sword and swung. Yaren rolled back to his feet, evading the blow and sliced through Itreal's cheek. Itreal retaliated with a kick to his gut and slashed his sword, landing a shallow cut on Yaren's forearm. He kicked him in the chest thrice, pushing him away. Yaren retaliated with a barrage of metal and earth attacks, pushing him back and attacked.

Valtea sent out a water whip at her opponents, stunning one of them. The Altiris Knight recovered and retaliated with a blast of air. Valtea leaped over the attack and sent out ice disks and ice spears at her. She struck, her energy whip decapitating the Knight. The other attacked with fire and a blue energy blade. Valtea blocked his strikes and tore the energy blade out of his grasp with a flick of her wrist.

He launched a fire whip at her, and a fire wave, knocking her to the ground. Before she could attack, he closed the distance and disarmed her. He locked her air and grabbed her throat. She felt his hand heat up, but locked her hand around his, snuffing the fire out, and kicked him in the gut. He struck her with a fire whip, burning a part of her tunic. Valtea pushed him away and stabbed him with an ice spear. He staggered, and she finished him with an ice disk to the neck.

Kaeriza electrocuted one of the two Knights before he had a chance to fire his energy gun. She finished him with her sword, and turned her attention to the other, who attacked her with water. The water and lightning collided, creating an explosion. She attacked the Knight, his sword meeting hers, and swept him off his feet. He reached out with his hand, tightening his grip around her throat. He scrambled to his feet, still choking her, and slashed. One of the remaining Legion Commandos shot him before the blow could land. Kaeriza just barely evaded the blade, weakened as she was by the unexpected air attack.

Itreal saw all four of his allies go down, all three Legion Knights attacking him. He knocked his foe out and back flipped to safety. Valtea and Kaeriza attacked him with water and lightning. He retaliated with earth, and his sword. He ducked under Valtea's energy whip and closed the distance between them, kicking her in the chest thrice and landed a shallow cut on her neck. He froze Kaeriza in a block of earth and metal, and kept attacking Valtea. He disarmed her of her whip and slammed her into a wall with an earth fist, and pelted her with metal disks. She deflected them with ice and water, and sent out a water whip at him.

He dissipated the attack with his mind wielding, and stabbed her in the gut. Just as he was about to finish her off, Yaren seized him in a mental grip, and decapitated him. He dissolved the earth block around Kaeriza and they kept going, along with the remaining Legion Commandos. They stopped in front of a cell, and dispatched the two guards. Yaren crushed the metal door with his metal wielding, and threw it aside. Exeroz looked up at him and smiled.

"I was hoping you would come" he said. "Come on, we need to move before more Altiris Knights show up" Yaren replied, destroying Exeroz's restraints. "Let's get your weapon and get the hell outta here. Lokkas should have got us a ship by now" said Valtea. They and the three remaining Commandos rushed to the armory and then to the prison hangar, where Lokkas was dueling an Altiris Knight.

Lokkas's sword staff deflected the Knight's green energy blade, and an air wave sent the Knight back a few feet. The Knight recovered and electrocuted him with a burst of lightning. She aimed for his neck, but Exeroz halted her with air and attacked. The Knight blocked and retaliated. Exeroz blocked the lightning bolts with his energy blade and seized the Knight in an air grip, and sent her straight into Lokkas's sword staff. "Thanks" Lokkas said. "Come on. Let's get the hell outta here" said Kaeriza. They entered the ship, and headed for the atmosphere. Overhead, they saw a few Alliance cruisers moving to intercept. One of them hailed  them.

"Shuttle KY-8579, your departure is unauthorized. Please return to your landing pad immediately, or prepare to be boarded." They did not reply, but kept flying. "Calculate the jump" said Exeroz. "Shuttle KY-8579, return to your landing pad. This is your last warning" came in the officer's voice. When they did not reply, several Alliance star fighters swarmed them, more joining within the next minute. An Alliance cruiser also took interest in them, and they felt the pull of a tractor beam. Just as the cruiser started pulling them in, several Legion ships exited lightspeed, and fired on it, targeting and destroying the tractor beam. The Alliance fleet focused on the Legion ships, deeming them as the greater threat. Several of them were destroyed, but the rest, along with the shuttle, jumped to lightspeed before the Alliance fleet could surround them.
