Exeroz was walking back to his hut, when he heard screams nearby. He followed the sounds, and saw a family of four, a man, a woman, a boy and a girl, surrounded by a group of bandits, four of whom were wielding energy swords, the others armed with blasters and steel weapons. "Hand over your money, and we will let you go" ordered the leader, holding his energy blade to the man's neck.

"Leave these poor people alone" said Exeroz, raising his voice. The bandits and the family turned and looked at him, some in admiration, some shock, others with anger. "Stay out of this, stranger" the leader commanded. "And let you have your way with them? I think not. Face me, if you are so brave as to attack four harmless people" Exeroz replied. "You shall pay for your insolence, stranger. Get him" the leader ordered, and the bandits attacked.

Exeroz activated his energy staff, and twirled the weapon in his hands, the green blades deflecting the plasma bolts. He sent out an air wave, knocking down a few of the bandits, and deflected a few more plasma bolts, sending them back at their attackers, destroying their blasters. He blocked a strike from one of the other bandits, and knocked him out with a kick to the temple. He blocked several more strikes and slammed his elbow in the bandit's sternum. He evaded another strike and seized one of the attackers in an air grip, and hurled him into another's energy blade.

He unleashed another air wave, knocking out two more assailants. The other seven attacked him together. He blocked one's strike and stabbed her in the heart, killing her. He snapped another's neck and leapt aside, evading a torrent of lightning. He hurled his energy staff at them, taking out two more. The others attacked him again. He cut one of them down with a cleave through the chest, and blocked the others' energy blades. The green collided with red, white and orange.

Exeroz blocked a fire wave, and countered an earth blast. He blocked another torrent of lightning, and separated the bandit from the other two. He attacked, his green blades clashing against the bandit's orange. He unleashed a barrage of hand strikes in his sternum and shoulders and readjusted his grip on his weapon, drawing the blade up through the bandit's chest, letting the corpse fall to the dirt. He faced the other two, waiting for them to attack. One of them twitched and turned, running from the battle field. The other sent a fire whip at him, frying him. "You are the one who deserted the Legion at the battle of Vanraael, aren't you?" he asked. "Yes, I am Exeroz Lorynn, a former Legion Knight" Exeroz replied. "You and I are not that different, then. It's a shame that you will have to go" the bandit said. "You couldn't beat me with the other thugs. What makes you think you stand a chance alone?" asked Exeroz, raising his eyebrow. "You have not seen my true power yet, young one" the bandit said, and pounced, his red blade hitting Exeroz's green.

Exeroz blocked his next strike and slashed, the tip of one of the green blades grazing the bandit's face. The bandit snarled and pushed him away, and struck him with a fire wave. Exeroz drew the air out of the surroundings, extinguishing the fire, but leaving enough for him and the family to breathe comfortably. He attacked, thinning out the air around the bandit.

The thug gasped for air, leaving himself open. Exeroz pulled the air out of his lungs, and watched as his foe slowly suffocated.

"Thank you, noble Knight" said the father. "My pleasure. You should be safe for now" Exeroz replied.
