It's been close to two weeks now since I arrived here and it has been real nice being with my grandmother again.
The other day at the store, I had one of the most embarrassing things happen to me and luckily I had cash but at first, I hadn't realized I had enough on me to get what I needed because I don't have credit cards or even a bank account because I don't want to make it so easy for Danny to track me down.
So I had tried using one of those VISA gift cards I had always reloaded so I wasn't carrying so much cash on me and apparently, had forgotten I hadn't reloaded it since I used the rest that was on there, after I grabbed some gas before heading here.I also got my car back a couple of days ago and was more than grateful to have it too.
It turned out that my car needed some things repaired that if I hadn't had it looked at when my grandmother did, it might have shut down on me at any moment. In other words, it's a 'clunker'. To be honest though, I still felt guilty she did it in the first place and wanted to make sure I paid her back. So I left some money in her dresser drawer where I knew she always kept her 'save for a rainy day' funds.
Although I wasn't sure still in how long I had planned to be here, while I was staying in town at least, I could help her out around the house since she has Todd taking care of the horses and the outside of the ranch.
I have also noticed recently that I seem to not be so fearful while I'm here. Don't know why neither, but I'm not complaining. Just I for the first time in forever feel I am home.
I hardly got any sleep last night and decided to make breakfast before my Nana woke up.
It's not a big deal but I thought I would make some cinnamon rolls using the recipe her mother taught her and that she taught me when I was little.
After rolling up the fifth and final cinnamon roll and popping them into the oven, I was starting to think that maybe I might not finish these before she woke up, because I still had to make the icing.
After I finished putting the icing on, my grandmother came into the kitchen behind me and greeted me with a smile.
"Good morning." She smiles at me.
"Good morning." I had made some cinnamon rolls. Your recipe of course." I tell her.
"Mmm..." She comments while smelling in the scent. "Looks better than I ever made them." She winks at me.
"I doubt that." I chuckled.
We next sat down to eat and I had started to wonder in where Todd was because normally he was here for breakfast. Not everyday but enough times to make me notice he wasn't here.
Next we heard a door shut and knew right away that it was Todd along with him shouting back at someone.
"Unbelievable." I heard my grandmother mumble a little bit and take another bite after she looked through the window.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing. He just never learns, is all. That stupid Jessie, she is the biggest slut in this town, in fact so slutty, they even know her in two towns over." She comments.
"Nana. You need to stop getting in everyone's personal business." I tell her while trying to hold in my laughter.
She playfully glares at me and then we share a little laugh together.
I thought Todd was going to come in and have some breakfast, but he seemed to have gone straight to work. So I ignored it for now but when we finished up, Nana asked me to bring him a cinnamon roll and then to come back and then work some more on a little garden that she has out on the side of the house.
For some reason I felt a little nervous in going to him but I don't know why. However, I suck it up and just nod my head in agreement then head outside.
When walking up, I notice he is standing in the barn and moving stacks of hay.....Of course he is and of course he's glistening a little bit with sweat already as the heat is rising by the minute.
Damnit, he makes me feel.....Suddenly I was interrupted in my thoughts.
I look at him and notice he's breathing a little heavy while standing there with his workman gloves and just overall, as always, looking so damn hot.
"Uh, sorry. Nana thought you might be hungry and wanted me to bring you this." I tell him as I hand him the roll placed on the small plate.
He looks down at it and then up at me and smiles-which makes me smile.
"Thanks. It looks and smells really good." He comments.
"I hope they taste good." I tease.
"Mmm...Oh my god." He moans as he takes a bite of the roll.
How the hell does he stay so fit and eat the way he does? Oh that's right......exercise.
"You like it?" I asked jokingly.
"Oh my god, she is such a great cook and baker." He says before devouring in the next few bites the rest of it then licks his fingers.
Damnit, he's getting to me. Then again, it has been a while for me now.
"Actually, I made them." I reply.
He looks at me a little surprised and smiles at me again.....Did it just get hotter?!?
Next chapter will be posted soon! :)
