It wasn't that I wanted to back down or anything, but I have never felt as terrified as I do right now as we are driving to the spot.
Barron informed us right before we left that Leison wanted him to be there and to be sure nothing became too suspicious, he agreed.
Right now all I could think of was hugging my grandmother before I left. I held her so tightly as she did with me and we both tried fighting back tears before I said goodbye.
That moment keeps replaying in my head right now-ever since we left because I don't know if that was the last time I would ever see her again. Ever hug her.
It was very late. Nobody was out. Everybody was in bed asleep, not knowing what we were about to possibly endure.
While looking out the window at all the darkened roads where you can see nothing but the silhouette of houses, I started remembering back when I was little.
My Nana had told me to spin really fast. I remember how dizzy I was at the end and could barely keep my balance but I also remember the street lights and how fast they went by the more I spun around.
That was the moment I had learned about what life is like. And how if you aren't careful and don't stop to take a look around once in a while, you can lose your balance and easily fall.
She was right. I always loved the way she put things for me like that. To me it was always like poetry to my ears.
Now look at me. Look at who I had let into my life and almost destroy it.
"Baby?" Todd says my name in his gentle sweet voice and breaks me out from my thoughts.
"Yeah?" I replied looking at him.
"Are you okay?" He asks concerned.
"I will be." I reply.
"I promise I won't let anything happen to you."
"I know. And I won't with you either." I reassure him with another smile before we leaned in to kiss each other.
Soon enough, we pull up to an empty and abandoned-unkept garden that used to be a huge deal twenty years ago before people stopped caring about it and let everything go. It was located just outside of town.
After we pulled up, we noticed that nobody was there yet. So we hurried and made our way towards behind the trees, bushes and any place we could hide from that surrounded the spot they were all supposed to meet up at shortly, so we could listen and watch undetected.
I was trying not to think about what could go wrong because there was so much that could and..... I immediately stop my thoughts when we notice several headlights start to peak through the darkness into a spot.
This was it. Time to make sure I don't make a sound or even breathe. I had no idea what was about to happen.
Just watching the men walk out of their cars and seeing them walk towards Barron made me think things may not go so right. The men had looks and the walk of a serious nature.
Then soon after Leison and his men walked up to Barron and greeted one another, we noticed a few other cars pulled up next to his and they go out as well and started heading towards where Barron and them we're.
I was getting more nervous by the minute and then I saw Danny. He looked the same in a way but yet, as if he matured in his looks a bit as he seemed to dress more of the part of a Mafia boss.
My stomach began turning in knots and I thought for a second I was going to throw up and freak out but then I felt my hand being held tight enough to know I was safe and secure because Todd was right next to me.
I looked at him and we smiled at each other before turning our attention back to the men and trying to listen in to what they were talking about.
Here we go.....
