8: basketball anxieties

November 5th, 5 weeks before the incident

The lecture dragged on agonisingly slow. The only thing entertaining Cosima was the sight of Jawn chugging a box of rainbow nerds down his throat. When he wasn't doing that, he threw them at the person sitting in front of them and acted nonchalant about it.

"And that's why, for your next assignment I want you to do an evaluation of another person. Could be a roommate, a friend, a sibling, whatever.  Put together a questionnaire from the forms I gave you. Have the person take the test and then write an evaluation on it — are there any learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, anger management issues, etc? Tailor it for what you're looking for beforehand. And hand it in by November 25th.", the Prof explained.

Jawn turned to Cosima with a shy grin.

"Do you think if I asked Daphne to do the test with me she will recognise that as flirting?", he asked.

Cosima suppressed a giggle, "That's adorable. Are you sure you're ready to find out though? What if she's a psychopath? Then you would have to live with that information."

"I'm pretty sure she's not a psychopath.", Jawn groaned, "And if so, at least I would know before it got too serious.",

"Okay, Romeo."

"Hey Awsten.", Cosima greeted him on the phone.

"Hey! How are you?", the call was unexpected to Awsten, but he was happy to hear from her.

"I'm fine, yeah. I want to write an evaluation for my psych class on you, if you're down.", Cosima got straight to the point.

"Uh, yeah, sounds great. When do you want to do it?"

Awsten didn't think she remembered that conversation at the haunted hospital, but he was honestly excited to learn more about himself. Then maybe he wouldn't have to google 'do I have anxiety' twice a month.

"I have to put together a survey first, but I'm hoping to get it done next week. I'm happy you're down. Is there any particular psychological aspect you would like me to evaluate you on? Like, we could determine if you're a psychopath, or if you have ADHD for example, or just if you have any emotional disabilities, like anxiety or depression. So that I can tailor the questions."

"Emotional disabilities sound good to me", Awsten confirmed, "Are you doing anything today?"

"I have a basketball match at 5...", Cosima trailed off, knowing that he wouldn't be pleased with that information.

"You were limping five days ago and now you're playing?", he asked a little shocked.

"Yeah, but we have subs this time. So I can take a break if I need to.", she tried to reassure him.

"Can I come?", Awsten blurted out.

Cosima suddenly felt nervous at the other end of the line, "Sure? I mean, I don't know why that would be interesting to you, but technically yes. Otto and Grace, my friends, said they wanted to come too... So at least there would be someone there you can talk to. If you want."
