December 30th, 2 weeks after the incident

"Fuck you and you, and you
I hate your friends and they hate me too"

Awsten's singing voice drang from  the bathroom, alongside the crackling of the water in the shower and blackbear's voice.

He was getting ready for his Non-Date with Madison. He had spent the afternoon with Cosima again, assisting her with cooking and cleaning. She was grateful for his help, even when he sometimes overdid it — helping out with even the littlest things like flipping an omelette in a pan for her. But it was all in good spirit.

While Awsten was in the shower, Cosima's doorbell rang and when she opened the door the sight of her parents took her by surprise.

"Hey monkey.", her mother, Analyn, said and engulfed her daughter in a hug.

"Hey, what do I owe the pleasure?", Cosima asked.

She led them inside towards the kitchen table and motioned them  to take a seat.

"We wanted to check up on you after your surgery. How are you holding up?", Analyn asked, searching for eyecontact with Cosima.

The girl huffed, "Yeah, it's going okay. I'm getting the wound drainage pulled tomorrow morning and the stitches are going after New Years.", she told them and pointed at the drainage connected to her leg.

Her father gagged at the sight, "That's disgusting.", he commented.

"Don't be a wuss, Chris", Analyn scolded her husband.

They perked up when the shower turned off and only the noise of Awsten's music playing could be heard from the bathroom.

"Do you have someone over?", Analyn asked, hearing the faint sound of Awsten's voice.

Cosima turned her head into the bathroom's direction and nodded, "It's just Awsten."

Like on command, the door opened and Awsten's head peaked out of the doorframe, his hair still wet from the shower, shoulders bare.
He noticed everyone's stares on him and turned off the music, embarrassed.

"Oh, uh, hi.", he stuttered, "I didn't know someone came in, I'm sorry for the loud music and everything."

He stood there a little awkwardly, making sure his chest was covered by the door. Cosima picked up on his discomfort and sent him a pitiful smile.

"It's good to see you again.", Cosima's mother smiled at him.

"Thanks, you too.", Awsten nodded politely,  "I just wanted to know if you have a hairdryer I could use?"

Cosima had to think about where she put it for a moment, "Oh, mh, it should be in the cabinet under the sink."

"Thanks.", Awsten smiled tightly and quickly slid back into the bathroom

"What is he doing here?", Chris wanted to know.

Cosima turned back around to them, "He's just helping me with chores, groceries and plays designated driver to my appointment tomorrow.", she explained.
