Chapter 1: Fire Away

Chapter 1

Arcanum "The place where I come from, Elixir City, was a beautiful place, until he came along.... Rex Unum, the minute he showed up in Elixir City, I knew there was gonna be trouble... And I was right"

Arcanum "Once he became the so called 'Leader' of the city, he started using her power for fear, he would use demonic energy to submit the weak into his servitude, and now we've figured out that he wants to revive The Despair Embodied... If he does that, Elixir has no chance"

Jason "Why did you come to me for help?"

Arcanum "I've heard stories about you, the Prince Of Darkness they call you, me and Alice agreed that you were the perfect man for the job"

Jason "When do we leave?"

Arcanum "Tonight actually, I have a boat waiting for us"

The 2 of them then left the bar, however outside Jason happened to bump into Gwen.

Gwen "Oh.... Hi Jason"

Arcanum "Oh, do you know this woman?"

Jason "An old friend, nothing to worry about"

Arcanum "I see, let's go then"

Jason nodded and followed Arcanum.

Jason "(She doesn't wanna talk to me, not after what happened)"

Gwen "Hey Jason!"

He looked round and saw Gwen looking at him.

Gwen "Be careful.... I mean... you have to go to Chris's wedding after all..."

Jason "Sure"

He silently nodded and followed Arcanum, Gwen looked on with some form of regret in her eyes and walked away, on the way Jason whipped out his phone and called Miranda.

Jason "I need a favour"

Miranda "Huh? What is it?"

Jason then explained to Miranda about his daughter Elisa and how he wouldn't be able to take her with him, so Miranda agreed to look after her while he was gone.

A few minutes later, at the docks.

Jason saw Arcanum standing by a boat, he beckoned Jason over.

Arcanum "Are you ready?"

Jason nodded and he and Arcanum boarded the boat.

It was an hour of smooth sailing, Jason and Arcanum didn't talk to each other on the way, Arcanum was merely checking his pocket watch whilst Jason closed his eyes for a bit, the encounter with Gwen was as about as hostile and awkward as he expected it to be, he wasn't looking for forgiveness from her, he didn't expect any... he selfishly left her all alone all those years ago... but seeing her as she was now... he knew he had to apologise face to face, he made a promise to do so after this mission.

Arcanum "We're here"

Jason woke up, they were approaching the dock of a very run down city.

Arcanum "This, is Elixir City, its not much but... Its home"

Jason didn't say anything, he thought this city made Limbo look good in comparison.

Once they docked the boat, the made their way to the entrance of the city.

Arcanum "Strange, its deserted"

Jason saw what he was talking about, the section of the city that they were approaching was like a ghost town.
