It's been three and a half months since I spoke to my uncle each week. I have to admit, I'm starting to feel like myself again for a little bit. In fact, today was the first time I smiled and meant actually meant it. We agreed to meet up every month now, we'll see how that goes, if it's goes well enough we'll make it once in two months and so on. I walked downstairs on a beautiful Tuesday in July. "Morning mum." I smiled as I walked into the kitchen. I gave her a kiss on the cheek and sat down next to her. "Morning love." She said with a sparkle in her eye. "Is that an actual smile?" She said in disbelief. I smiled again. "Yes, yes it is." She squealed and gave me a big hug. "Thanks mum, for making me talk to uncle Colin. I owe him so much." I told her as I took a bite of my waffle. "You did this on your own." She said to me. "I'm so proud of you." She placed a kiss on my forehead. "Morning Mu-" Nate began but stopped in his tracks. "No freaking way." He said. He rushed over me and tackled me into a hug. "My sister is back!" He shouted and it actually made me laugh. He placed kisses all over my face. "Nate, calm down." I chuckled. He got off me and sat down across from me. "It's nice to see you smile again." Nate said to me. "Thanks little bro." I said to him and he glared. In the corner of my eye is saw my mum shaking her head slightly while smiling.
"Let's go." Nate shouted as he raced to the front door again. I rolled my eyes but followed him to the car.
"It is really nice to see you smiling again." Nate said to me again while we were driving towards school. "I know. I feel good. It took me a year, but I think I'm getting there." "Good." He smiled to me.
"Well, look who we have here all by herself." I rolled my eyes as I heard Dave talk to me. "Get lost Dave." I glared to him and he looked a bit taken back by my reaction. He hesitated for a moment. "Excuse me?" He tried to sound angry but all I could hear was insecurity. "I said, get lost." I growled to him. The bullying only started three months after Jayden died. Yes, it's cruel, but guess Dave never lost someone again. His face went from hesitation to determination. "You dare talking to me like that?" This time it was his turn to growl. I shrugged. "Yeah." He went for my shoulder but I stopped him by grabbing his arm. "That was a mistake." I smirked to him. I jerked on his arm and his face collapsed with the lockers. "Don't you dare trying to touch me again." I whispered as I pushed his face against the lockers. I felt him nod a bit and I let go of his arm and face. "You go girl!" I heard Ashley shout behind me. "She's back!" Thomas shouted and I laughed. "You're really back." Thomas grimaced. He pulled me into a hug. "Good to have you back." Ashley said and she also pulled me into a hug. "What are we hugging about?" Nora came walking towards him and she smiled widely when she saw me laughing. "No way. Jaimy is laughing?" She gasped, placing her hand in front of her mouth. "O stop it you." I glared and pulled her into a hug.
The first class I had was math. I wasn't good at math, no matter how hard I tried. The teacher had explained it multiple times, but with no luck. "Ashley, would you tutor Jaimy please?" Mr. Cowell asked Ashley. "Sir, don't you think I already tried?" She groaned. "We all did. Math just isn't her thing." The teacher sighed. "Well, I'm not giving up on you." Mr. Cowell said. "I'll do my best sir." "I know you will." He said and I smiled to him, which made him raise his eyebrows. "Welcome back Mrs. Jennings."
Next class: English. I walked in and sat next to Thomas. "Did you talk to Mr. Williams already?" Thomas said to me. I shook my head. "No, not yet. I will after class." I told him. "Alright class. You will be writing an essay today in pairs today. The classmate next to you is your partner. I want it on my desk next week." He said and he sat down behind the desk. I raised my hand. "Yes Jaimy?" "Uhm sir, you haven't told us what to write about." I said to him. "Oh right, write about your hobbies. Combine them if they aren't the same. Show interest in each other. Good luck." He said and I turned to Thomas. "Okay, tell me. Teen wolf or Supernatural?" He looked weird at me. "You know I dislike both." I raised my eyebrows at him. "Fine, we'll combine Teen wolf and Harry Potter." He rolled his eyes and I cheered a bit too loudly. I held my hand in front of my mouth and automatically looked over to Mr. Williams. "I'm sorry Mr. Williams." I apologized, knowing he liked his class quiet. "I want to speak to you after class, Mrs. Jennings." "Yes, sir." I said and I was quiet for the rest of the hour.
The bell rang and I slowly got up and waited for everyone to leave the room. "You want-" Before I could finish my sentence he walked over to me and he pulled me into a hug. "It's so good to see you smile again Jaimy." He whispered. "It took me a while." I whispered back. "I went to the lake house a couple of months ago. It really helped." I told him. "Good. He would've been proud of you." He softly smiled to me. "Thanks Mr. Williams." "You know you can call me Mark after all these years right? Jayden wouldn't have had it any other way. You know how my son is. Was." He added 'was' after he realized what he said. "Anyway, it's nice to see you laugh today. Now of you go." "Bye Mr. Wi- Mark." He smiled after the name change and I left the classroom.
After a good day I was sitting on the couch with my mum. "I'm so proud of you. I want you to know that." Mum said. "I know. Sorry I couldn't talk to you about it. Don't know why, I just couldn't." I apologized to her. "You don't have to apologize honey. It's okay." She wrapped her arm around me and pulled me closer. "Now, go to bed. I have a surprise for you tomorrow." She said, sitting up. "But it's only 9:30." I argued. She looked sternly at me and I gave in. "Okay fine, I'm tired anyway."
A knock on my door woke me up. I looked at my alarm: 5am. Was this the surprise mum talked about? Waking me up at 5am? I groaned as I got out of bed. I opened the door to not only see my mum, but Ashley as well. "Ash? What are you doing here?" I asked her, rubbing my eyes. "Your mum already laid out your clothes in the bathroom. Get under the shower and get dressed. I'll meet you downstairs." She said after giving me a hug.
I walked into the bathroom and saw a black v-shirt with some black jeans. I picked up the shirt and read what it said. My eyes widened. 'All I want is butterbeer and Dylan O'Brien in a black chevy impala' I screamed in excitement. An ultimate shirt for someone who takes part of three fandoms. Harry Potter, Teen wolf and Supernatural. I quickly got under the shower and ran downstairs once I was dressed. "We're going to comic con?!" I shouted as I walked into the kitchen. "Heck yeah!" Ashley shouted back and she pulled me into a hug. "Your mum got them last minute." Ashley bounced up and down. I looked confused at my mum. "I arranged a few things. Working with people with connections helps." She simply shrugged while smirking at me. "You're amazing, you know that right?" I said, pulling her into a hug. "Yeah yeah, I know. Here, you can't go with an empty stomach." She said, handing me some toast.
Just as a I finished my breakfast I heard a car honking. I looked confused at my mum. "Well, there's our drive. Let's go." Mum said. "Woah, stop." I suddenly realized something. "What about my stuff?" I said as I watched all of them grab a bag. "Already taken care off." My mum said as she patted on the bag she was holding. A smile grew on my face and I happily walked outside to only stop in my tracks when I realized who were in the car. "They're coming along?" I said in disbelief. "Off course we are!" Thomas shouted through the window, behind him was Nora. "We rented a mini-van so we don't need separate cars." Nora added. "Sweet." I heard Nate say and we all got into the van.
"So, let me check the schedules. Since I wasn't planning on going I haven't look at it yet." I was about to take out my phone when mum stopped me. "Don't look at it." She said softly. "I want everything to be a surprised. Me and Nora's mother planned everything." She explained and I looked at her in disbelief. "You planned this in one evening?" She nodded. "Yup." Popping the 'p'. I shook my head while smiling. She really is amazing.
Once got into the hotel we were 3 hours further. Mum booked two rooms, I am sharing a room with my mum, Nate and Ashley. Thomas, Evanora and Mrs. Lavareaux, Evanora's mum, are sharing the second room. I unlocked the door and it was quite a big room. Almost next to the door was the bathroom with a bath, shower and a toilet. On the right side was a coat rack. When I walked further, I looked at my left, there were 2 seated couches with a small table. In the right corner was a desk with a few small cabinets. There was a closet against the wall from the bathroom. Big enough to fit clothes in for more than 3 persons. On the other side of the room were 2 double beds with a bedside table on both sides of the bed. "Come on, we'll unpack tonight. It's eight o'clock. It will be so crowded. Luckily the first thing I have planned is not until 5pm. If you're seeing something you're interested in, just give a shout." "Will do mum." "Okay Mrs. Jennings." Ashley replied.
