Chapter Nine

"Mum, it's been ten days. Tomorrow is a new week. Can I please go to school tomorrow?" I begged her as we were eating dinner. 

"I don't know Jaimy." She said, taking a bite of her spaghetti. 

"Mum, we haven't seen the black van for days and there hasn't been a news article or something like that as well. Please?" I begged again. It went silent for a few seconds. 

"Fine, but I'll drive you to school." She finally gave in. 

"Yes!" I threw my hands in the air. I got up and flew my arms around her neck. "Thank you thank you thank you." I cheered. 

"Yeah yeah, just finish your plate." I sat back down and I could see Nate shook his head. 

"What?" I asked him. 

"You're such a dork." He snickered and I glared at him. 

"Well, I would like to see how you are doing after you spend almost three weeks stuck at home." 

"I think it would be fine. Playing some games, sleeping in. I wouldn't mind." He shrugged. I rolled my eyes at him and silently finished my plate, but inside I was screaming.

I couldn't wait to tell my friends about it, I couldn't wait to tell Dylan about it. We have been talking daily since the last ten days. We are really starting to know each other and I adore him even more then I already did, he is such a nice lad. Funny too, but I already knew that. I haven't told him about Jayden yet, I don't feel like I should tell him that over the phone. We haven't called yet, but I must I admit I am a bit scared for that. I can hide behind the words a bit now, if we talk, he can hear my emotions if I'm not careful.

Guess who is going to school tomorrow?!

I texted Dylan first then decided to call Ashley. "What's up?" Ashley answered the phone.

"Oh, nothing. Just calling to tell you I am going to school tomorrow. No big deal." I said casual.

"No way!" She squealed. 

"Yes!" I replied enthusiastically. "Well, mum is going to drive to school." I said, less enthusiastic. 

"Yeah, but if you can go to school that's okay right?" Ashley said. 

"I guess. I hope you guys can come over after school. I haven't really asked her that." I said, realizing that I didn't ask her. I mean, I was grounded and couldn't be in touch with Dylan.. but does that mean I can't see my friends again?

"Jamesetta Evangelina Jennings!" I suddenly hear Ashley scream in my ear and I wince. 

"Ouch, what was that for?" I said through the phone, changing it from my left ear, to my right. 

"I said, I'll just sneak up to your room like a thousand times." She said annoyed. 

"Sorry, drifted away for a bit." I said to her. 

"O really, I didn't notice." Ashley said, clearly letting know she was sarcastic. I rolled my eyes at her. 

"You're such a drama queen sometimes." I chuckled. 

We talked for a bit more, when I felt my phone vibrate. Got a text from Dylan. 

"Ash, got to go. See you tomorrow." I said. 

"Okay, bye." She said and hung up.

I clicked on the Whatsapp icon and read his text.
