Chapter 2 - Just Two Different Lives

The Week flew by quickly. It was your first day of school, and you were quite nervous, but you knew your friends were going to be there to support you. You wall downstairs for breakfast.
Dad: you sure you don't want me to drive you there.
Y/N: no, I'll be fine; dad, I don't want you to be late for work just for little old me.
He hugs you, and you grab your backpack and head out the front door. Your phone gets a notification.
[Mom: have a good day at school <3]
[Y/N: thanks, mom.]
You see Jessica and Diego, and they walk with you.
Jessica: are you nervous too? Because I'm scared, like really, really worried.
Diego: calm down. It's just first-day jitters. You'll be fine.
Y/N: yeah, we'll be fine. Just breath and start calm.
Diego: where's Tom meeting us? His house is here.
You stop at his house, and he rushes outside.
Tom: I'm so excited about school!
Jessica: so optimistic.
Tom: because I get to enjoy it with my friends.
Diego: who would that be?
Tom: you three, of course, well Y/N like my best friend in the world, of course.
You all continue to walk to school, and when you arrive, you get your schedules.
Y/N: we all have homeroom together and lunch.
Tom: you and I got last period together, lovely.
You high five each other.
Diego: to homeroom, I guess.
You walk to homeroom until Tom stooped by a pretty girl.
Girl: hey you!
She walks up to him.
Tom: who me?
Girl: yes, you new here?
Tom: Yeah.
You stay while Jessica and Diego continued heading to class.
Julie: I'm Julie, and I think you're cute.
Tom: Thank you, your pretty too, Julie.
She writes her number on his arm.
Julie: call me sometime.
She then leaves.
Y/N: nice one, dude, and on your first day.
You both walk to homeroom when you enter the room; you sit next to Diego, and tom sits in front of you.
Diego: What took you both so long.
Y/N: Tom has a crush.
Tom: It's not a crush; maybe do you think she likes me?
Y/N: I'm not sure, maybe.
Jessica: you must keep us updated, Tommy boy.
The bell rings, and you all go to your first-period classes; you sit in the middle row, then someone sits next to you.
Boy: Hey.
You turn to him.
Y/N: umm, Hi.
Leon: I'm Leon. I'm new here.
He holds his hand out, and you nervously shake it.
Leon: sorry if I'm weird.
Y/N: no, it's okay. I'm just nervous, that's all.
Your heartbeat starts to calm down after you both talked until the teacher hit here Leon pretty funny, and not a lot of people can make you laugh after class. You and Leon decided to walk together since you both had the second period together.
Leon: I swear Pidgeon is a government agency.
Y/N: but they are so harmless.
Leon: sure, sure for now.
You both laugh. Tom stops you both in the Hall.
Leon: Hi, I'm Leon.
Tom looks at him and then back at you, then back at him.
Tom: I'm Tom y/n's Best Friend.
Leon: Nice to meet you.
He looks at you both.
Leon: I'm going to head to class. See You there y/n?
Y/N: of course, Leo.
He continues to class, leaving you and Tom alone.
Tom: Leo?
Y/N: what's a nickname.
Tom: do you, umm, like him?
Y/N: I don't know.
The five minutes left bell rings.
Tom: I'll see you at lunch.
Y/N: of course.
You both go your separate ways to class time goes on, and eventually, it's much time you get your food with Leon, and site with Diego and Jessica.
Leon: Hi, I'm Leon.
They both wave to him.
Diego: I'm Diego, and this is my sister Jessica.
Jessica: I can introduce myself.
Diego: not with food in your mouth, yuck.
Jessica: sorry.
Y/N: don't mind them. They're always like this.
Tom enters the lunchroom with Julie.
Julie: my friends are excited to meet you, Tom. They're sitting over there. Come over after you get your lunch or whatever.
She kisses his cheek and then leaves.
Tom: my friends will understand, right?
He looks for you and sees you laughing with Leon's arm around his back; he rushes towards you.
Tom: Hey everyone.
He sits in-between you and Leon.
Y/N: how were your classes?
Tom: they were pretty going without you in it; we have to hang out after school.
Y/N: Well, Leon invited me to roller skating.
Tom: I love roller skating. You wouldn't mind if I came along right.
Leon: of course not, Diego Jess, do you both want to come too?
Diego: no, thank you.
Jessica: sure, I'll go.
Julie walks over.
Tom: Sorry, I completely forgot, umm I'll be back.
He leaves the table.
Tom: Save my seat!
You nod your head and are the rest of your lunch.
Tom's POV
You arrive at Julie's table, keeping your eyes on y/n and Leon.
Julie: Crew, this is Tommy Boy, my new boyfriend.
She snaps at you breaking your focus, and you look at everyone at the table.
Tom: Sorry, I was just thinking about something. Umm Julie, do you want to go roller skating after school?
Julie: That sounds fun, sure, but tom, these are my friends.
Tom waves to them all; they wave back except one. He looks at you angrily, then he gets up and stands in front of you; you could feel your heart drop. He then walks out of the lunchroom.
Tom: Is he okay?
Julie: I don't know, listen, if you want to sit with your friends, I won't mind just walk me to class later after, okay.
Tom: Thank you, Julie.
Tom rushes back to your table.
Back to Your Perspective
Y/N: I'm just nervous about failing my classes.
Leon: I could help you study if you want?
Tom: no, it's okay. I can help him, wouldn't wanna bother you.
Y/N: We can do a study group.
Leon: That sounds like a good idea.
Jessica: Sounds fun. I'll join too.
Leon: We can study after the roller rink.
Y/N: Sounds Like a Plan.
The bell rings. Jess, Leon, and Diego leave.
Tom: Let me walk you to class Y/N.
Y/N: you look like you got someone waiting for you.
Julia: Come on, Tom, I'm going to be late.
Tom: shit, I almost forgot; umm, I see you period then?
Y/N: Sure thing, Holland.
He leaves, and you head to class last period finally rolls past your first in the classroom.
Y/N: where should I sit.
Tom: Being indecisive always.
You jump out of fright.
Tom: I'm sorry I didn't think you were completely zoned out.
Y/N: well, you pick.
Tom: Middle row. I know it's your favorite.
Y/N: you're right. I guess something I think I should change up my routine.
You both sit in the middle row, and the rest of the students show up after class. You and tom walk with the rest of your friends to the roller rink.
Y/N: I'm not a good skater, but I'll try.
Tom: I remember at my 7th birthday party when you kept falling with your skates on.
Y/N: but you came over to help me afterward, and we didn't want to leave after that.
You all head inside.
Jessica: it's beautiful in here.
Y/N: and empty. Where is everyone?
Leon: I asked my uncle to let us have the place for a couple of hours.
Tom: that was nice of you.
Leon went to grab your skates. You put them on and started to slip.
Julie: will you hold me, Tom. Tom?
She looks over to him, helping you up.
Tom: just be careful, y/n. I don't want you to get hurt.
Y/N: I promise I'll be okay; I think I got Leon and Jess to help me.
Leon: Yeah, I can help him out.
He holds your hand and takes you to the rink.
Julie: Tom!
He turns to her.
Tom: sorry, here I come.
Leon: by the end, you'll be a Roller Pro.
Y/N: you must be talking about Jess.
You watch as jess rolls another lap past you.
Jessica: hurry up, slowpoke.
You hold onto the sides trying no to slip and fall.
Leon: you sure you don't want to hold my hand?
Y/N: no, I got this.
You fall on your behind.
Y/N: ouch, now my ass hurts.
Leon laughs and helps you up.
Y/N: okay, now I'll take your hand.
You and Leon skate slowly around Leon, helping you keep your balance.
Leon: see, you got it.
Tom and Julie enter in.
Tom: you good?
Julie: Yeah, I'm fine, just don't let go, okay.
Tom: I promise I won't okay.
Tom holds onto her but sees you holding hands with Leon.
Tom: what the hell.
Julie: what?
Tom, with Julie by his side, skates to you.
Tom: hey, I can help him from here.
Leon: you look a bug preoccupied there, mate.
Tom: I'm a good multitasker.
Y/N: I'm just going to go sit down.
You hold onto the gate until you reach the exit, and you slip, twisting your ankle.
Y/N: Fuck!
Leon and Tom Rush to you.
Leon: I'll call a paramedic.
Tom: shit!
Y/N: it hurts so bad.
Tom: I'm sorry, y/n I should have helped you out.
Y/N: it's okay; just sign me something nice on my cast.
Tom: of course you'd joke at a time like this.
Jessica: they're here.
Leon: I'll go with him to keep him company.
Tom: I think I should go. I knew him longer.
Y/N: Jess, will you come with me.
Jessica: of course.
You both leave in the ambulance; you saw how sad Tom was before the doors closed; he has a girlfriend to take care of right now, so you didn't want to bother him.
