After the class concluded, everybody dispersed, everybody that is except for Riley. Riley sat back watching as the other went on their way-- she wasn't sad though, her nose buried in the textbook still sprawled out in front of her. Writing down each and every definition as if for some sort of test that only she knew about.
"Okay, now Miss..." Professor Flitwick said once everyone had exited the room.
"Hmmm..." the girl looked up, her eyes were super dream-like. "I was just busy copying these spells here, but I suppose that I can take a bit of a break"
"Yes, well, in any case... I have to ask, how on earth did you manage to do take spell-- a spell no doubt that requires a wand, without a wand?"
"I don't know sir, I'm sorry-- the best and only thing that I can say is that I'm an Auditory Learner"
The professor made a weird face. "An Auditory what? What does that have to do with anything?"
"An Auditory Learner" Riley corrected. "It's just a style of learning, I find that it helps a lot with my creativity"
"Hmmm— really, how so?" Professor Flitwick looked intrigued.
"Well, I'be— I mean, I have recently started hearing voices".
"Voices, you should— and what do these 'voices' do for you?"
"Well, that helps aid in my writing process"
"Ah, so you like: Creating Writing?"
"Love it!" She corrected.
"Well, you clearly have this spell down— I'm impressed" he praised her with a warm smile.
"Ah- th... tha... thank..." Suddenly Riley's mouth began to act very strangely, it was like she couldn't get the words out, even though they were right on the tip of her tongue.
"Is everything okay, Miss..." Professor Flitwick rushed out the words in a panic.
Taking a breath to regain control, she began to nod her head slowly. "Ummm, yes... sorry Professor" her voice stood quite small and dainty again. "I just have..." she whimpered slowly. "I just had... something happen to me when I was very young..."
Professor Flitwick nodded in understanding. "You know, Riley— you can tell me anything, all us teachers are here to help you succeed"
"Well, oh— okay..." she said, taking another big gulp of air. "The truth is that: well... when I was, m'bout four days old; I had to have some sort of an open-heart surgery in order for some valv in my heart to close..."
"Hmmm... yes, go on" Professor Flitwick said intrigued.
"Well, although the open-heart surgery was successful— the doctors later found out that I had a small bleed in my brain that I found out later was either a Cerebral Hemorrhage or an Aneurysm"
"Oh... Riley, that is so—"
"... and I have a smaller than normal sized Cerebellum, which both my mom and I've decided to call my Little, Little Brain"
"Oh..."
"Oh, I almost forgot— at one time I did that thing that you saw me doing with my mouth, freaked mom and dad out— so they took me into the doctor and discovered not much about it except that when and if I ever do happen to run a fever that it's more than likely for me to end up having a seizure" Riley breathed a sigh of relief.
