Epilogue (Harry)

Harry stood hand in hand with Draco as a cool breeze ruffled his unkept hair. He stared out across the lake with a forlorn expression, even as Draco squeezed his hand gently.

Harry should've been happier than ever- he graduated Hogwarts top of his class and wrote a book about depression and panic attacks that quickly became a best seller among muggles and wizards alike. He had the most amazing fiancé as well, what more could he wish for?

A cold hand gently touched his cheek, and Harry was pulled out of his sad thoughts. Today marked the 3rd year anniversary of the battle of Hogwarts. Raven and Dumbledore's death. And so many more as well. It had become their tradition, Draco and Harry, that is, to visit the lake and the cemetery where the bodies were buried.

Each year Harry couldn't help crying and wishing that everything had changed. But this year, it was different. He did not wish things to be different, because he had accepted it. They were dead. Nothing he could do to save them. Instead, he had the most amazing people that he called his friends, and the most incredible lover ever.

"Love..?" Draco murmured, tilting Harry's face towards his. Harry smiled, softly.
"I'm ok. Are you ok, Draco?"

Draco smiled. "You're by my side. You will be f-forever. Of course I'm happy, Scarhead. I'm so happy. I'm happy I found it in my c-cold heart to forgive you. I'm happy everything changed, for better and for worse. Because through it all you have always been there for me. You n-never once broke your promise to love me."

Harry chuckled, and wrapped an arm around Draco's waist, pulling him against him and leaning his forehead against his. "Did you think I would?" He teased.

Draco smiled fondly at him.
"Of course not."

"Good," Harry pulled away and the took the taller boys hand, "let's go home. I'm done for today."
Draco looked surprised.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. I don't want to be sad right now. I just..."
Harry trailed off, trying to think of something to say.
"I just want to enjoy the time we have together. Life's way to short to dwell on the past."

Draco smiled. "When did you become such a poet?"
Harry grinned goofily, "I always was."

Draco gently swatted him on the arm, then took his hand and apparated to their house, high in the Himalayan mountains. It took a lot of convincing on Draco's part for Harry to move so far away from everyone, but that's why Draco insisted they did.

Life was really hard. Most nights Draco would wake up screaming, while Harry rocked himself back and forth anxiously. It became harder and harder for them to fake smiles and interact with other people, even their closest friends. The only time they were ever truly happy was when they were folded in each other's arms, playing with each other's hair.

So they cut themselves off from the world. The last time they talked to anyone was two years ago, at Hermione and Ron's wedding. Those two idiots had finally figured out their feelings for each other. Now, Harry heard, they were expecting a baby. Maybe one day he'd find the strength in him to visit, but for now he was perfectly content with the way things were.

Harry grinned at Draco and tucked a stray piece of hair behind his ear.
"What's gotten you into such a good mood?" Draco asked, flicking his wand and opening the golden gates.
Harry slithered his arms around his waist from behind and mumbled into his hair, "you," which caused Draco to shiver.

"S-stop that, Harry," Draco chided, removing his hands from where they were drifting lower and lower.
Harry pouted, then turned Draco around by his shoulders, stood on his tiptoes, and placed a sweet kiss on his lips.

"I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."

"Are you sure you won't get sick of me?" Draco murmured.

"Never," Harry growled, and kissed him fiercely this time. "Don't you ever say that again, Draco."

Draco pulled away, flushing from cold and also the unbearable heat that he felt for the boy in front of him.
"Ok, ok. I'm sorry, love."

He took his hand and pulled him inside. He crossed the threshold and pushed Harry gently on to the couch and climbed on top of him.

"I promise to be a good boy," he stated innocently, causing Harry to turn red, then laugh.
"Oh Merlin, you really are going to be the end of me," Harry said, connecting their lips once more. Draco made a soft humming sound of agreement. They stayed like that for a while, and when Draco's lips got tired, he got off of Harry and flopped down beside him, resting his head on his chest.

Together, they stared out the window at the snow, falling delicately from the sky in spirals of cold.
"To think," Harry said suddenly, "all this happened because I was sneaking out, and you caught me."

Draco giggled. "Those pajamas you were wearing... that was the whole reason I fell in love with you. I mean, who wouldn't, I g-got a view of your amazing butt."

"Hey!" Harry protested, tickling the blond boy, who howled in laughter.

When he finally found his breath he whispered,

"I'm just kidding, of course. I was in love with you from the moment I saw you. It took a long time, but you finally found a way to love me t-too. You were the only thing that kept me going. And I'm sorry for all those years I teased you, I'm so sorry. I'm j-just glad I get you now. I remember I once told Pansy that I liked you and she told me that the villain never got the prince. I should get over you or my heart would be broken. For the longest time I believed her. I saw you and the Weaseltte.... I felt so...h-hopeless. But then you showed me love and suddenly I didn't know what to think anymore. All I knew was that I-I'd never stop loving you."

Harry kissed the top of his head.
"I think deep down I loved you from the start too. I was just playing hard to get. At first, I didn't want to accept that I liked guys, especially a guy like you, but it soon became obvious for everyone. It started out as this weird obsession I had- anytime something went wrong, I'd blame you. Then... I started noticing how handsome you were... and soon enough I became hopelessly in love with you. When... when I hurt you I thought I was the most despicable person ever. And I was. I thought I could never forgive myself, and I felt even worse when you did. You were the better person. So incredibly loving. You were, and always will be my good luck charm. The person that makes me smile when I'm down, and knows just what to say. Thank you so much Draco. Thank you for putting up with me and my... mixed messages I sent you."

Draco grinned up at him.
"Don't get sappy on me now. I know how much you adore me- it's pretty obvious."

Harry laughed. Draco grinned mischievously at him and murmured:

"I think you owe me a foot massage for all the pain you put me through..."

"Literally, how do I always keep owing you? You're always finding excuses!!" Harry cried good naturedly.

"Only for you, love. Only for you." Draco whispered.

"I know, Draco. I promise that I'll do whatever it takes- only for you."

The end.
