The princess’s maid, Lily came after an hour of the princess calming down and back to her new smiling self while being totally oblivious to the fresh hear she now came back with.

While Jennette decided it was time to address the matter at hand. The maid who was sent to check if the emperor was busy came back happily saying the emperor was available.

She passed through the gates of the garnet palace with a complicated heart as she made her way into his office. The hallway was cold and silent, as if there was no living being in the area. It was always like that, maybe if he wasn’t so cold, then maybe…

She may sound ungrateful if saying out what she thought; though she was showered with anything she ever wanted from jewels to dresses, and had all the tea parties she wanted with him, it didn’t feel warm.

To other people who watched they would think they were the perfect father-daughter pair but to someone who was involved in the relationship would know, that the emperor…wasn’t sincere.

Even if she was the most naïve person in the empire, she could understand human feelings very well. Maybe it was her innocence that made her think every day that he would one day warm up to her and to her sister.

From the moment she entered into the palace, from the time he stared down coldly at her before murmuring “Interesting” She could read it in his eyes, that she wasn’t actually seen as his daughter.

To him she was just a tool. A tool used in his petty game to make his other daughter crack.

Anthanasia the loathed princess. And Jennette who was dubbed as the ‘lovely princess’ was the lonely princess. Because no matter what she could never erase the fact that she wasn’t his real daughter.

That was why she had always felt guilty. Maybe he knew, that was why he was like that.

Though people around her tended to be kind she knew it was just the kindness given to a loved imperial princess, when her identity was not known she wasn’t treated any better than Anthanasia due to her social awkwardness.

“I greet His Majesty Sun of Obelia” Jennette greeted coldly with a curtsy. Though she knew he didn’t actually love her and wouldn’t listen to her, she needed to try further on bringing him closer to Anthanasia.

”How come you didn’t come earlier?” He responded indifferently as he permitted her to sit.

“I was with Anthanasia~ we had a great time and she spoke about how she wanted to leave the palace for a bit, as it’s dreadfully boring.” Jennette answered innocently in between her white lie.

“Tsk. Did she speak about me?” Claude asked the question he repeated during their every meeting wanting the fact of Anthanasia’s helpless state being told to him.

“Hmm. Nope, she didn’t speak a word about you. She mainly talked about young master Elliot Irain. Future duke of Irain~ She seems to admire him and says she needs to move on from thinking about other males, mainly those related to her” She answered while batting her eyes

Claude was listened indifferently as his eyes widened at the unexpected answer.

Each time Jennette would tell him how Anthanasia admires the emperor and how good of a ruler he was, which was Anthanasia actually said. She told Claude that with the intention of him wanting to return the familial love she had for him, but her plan seemed to fail each time so it was time to take a different approach.

“W, what?”

“Well, in the long ago past, she usually spoke of you, but as she’s your daughter its naturally time for her admiration for you will die down.” Jennette said emphasizing on the ‘she’s your daughter’ part.

Claude stayed in thought for a moment then looked at Jennette and asked an absurd question “Because she’s my daughter?”

“Yes. She’s your daughter”

“That bug can never be my daughter” Though he said that something in his heart seemed to change with his words. Maybe that thing was changing for the better…. Or for the worst.

And as the conversation continued the warmth that Jennette once held in her eyes towards him turned colder as she heard his distasteful thoughts towards Anthanasia.
