luca looked at the card that had come with the arrangement of flowers that had arrived at her front door in california. throwing the card away as she looked at the flowers, tempted to throw them out as well, but decided not to because it wasn't the flowers fault that the man who kept sending them was trying to use them as a way to apologize for his ways that had cost them a break up and angry emotions.

looking down at the fruit bowl she had prepared, she no longer felt hungry. she just couldn't believe that he still had the audacity to try to reach out after she had left it clear to him that they were better off as strangers.

"you're tripping for what?" he asked, the fire pit in the middle of his arizona backyard illuminating his features. his brown eyes looking at hers, clearly annoyed that luca was questioning his ways, "we ain't even together." he shrugged, so nonchalant as he turned to his phone and didn't even notice luca pushing herself up and walking to his house.

he was right. they weren't together but he sure as hell acted like they were. no attachments, but all that came with the attachments and the title. leaving him to still talk to woman and and entertain them when he pleased but still expecting luca to be the one he came back to every night because that's what his heart desired.

devin finally looked up, confused when he realized that luca wasn't there sitting in front of him. a sigh leaving his lips, not wanting to argue with her but wanting her to come back outside with him. going inside his home and into his bedroom, he found luca packing her things from the bathroom and into her toiletry and sipping up her suitcase, "what are you doing?" he questioned, his deep voice filling the quiet room as luca looked at him and looked back down, "luca?" he questioned again.

stubborn and always wanting to play with fire, luca was quick and sharp with her words, "don't worry about it." she quipped back, "we ain't even together." she shrugged, a small smirk on her lips as devin let out a groan, rubbing his face as he tried to stop her but she snatched her hand out of his hold.

"stop." he hissed making her scoff, "i ain't even mean it like that."

shaking her head, "nah," she spoke back, "you meant what you meant and i'm cool off that." she nodded as she pushed passed him carrying her luggage with her and him hot on her trail, "you have fun, devin. i'm not built to be one of your side pieces."

"stop it." he groaned.

"look. no hard feelings, okay?" she looked at him and he looked at her dumbfounded. he was expecting her to blowout like any other woman but luca had spent years in the game and knew how to play them back, "we just gotta realize we better off as strangers."

there were times were luca wished she hadn't ever answered to the message. it feels like life would've been so much more simpler. she was single but she was content with life. she looked at her friends and she loved the love that they were making for themselves.

"you need to learn to be content and at peace with yourself." sophia spoke, heavily pregnant with her son making luca shake her head with a bemused smile on her face as she looked at lex who was pure baby bump now as she was ready to explode. she liked to joke with her friends that she would be dammed if she would to join them as they both expected their children and luca was there for the ride.

"i am." she spoke back coyly. the only one in the friend group who was single by choice. the one who enjoyed no strings and casual lovers. the one who had realized that maybe relationships weren't for her, but who was the one would be the first one to say that woman enjoyed casual sex just like men and that's what she did.

lex looked at her friend and rolled her eyes, "who are you meeting tonight anyways?" she asked, "devin?" she wiggled her eyebrows which made luca scoff at the mention of him, "he keeps asking me about you."

"i don't care." she answered simply, "he can tattoo my face on his ass and i still wouldn't talk to him."
