money, fame and the clout that came with. private jets and expensive wine. game in and game out. that was devin's lifestyle. one that came with being an nba star. devin meant well, he had a good heart and his intentions were always pure. but he was still young, no desire to be tied down and no desire to be faithful. there was no excuse for his actions, he did what he did because he simply could and there was never any repercussions for it either.

veronica gutierrez, only wished his son found someone that he could come home to and confine to. his special someone, "at some point i'm going to want to meet one of them." she stated looking at his son, who stood looking at his mother from the other side of the island.

the nba lifestyle wasn't easy and if you were to ask anyone, as lavish and well off you were too be, the tolls that came with it did not seem worth it at times. shaking his head, devin looked at his mother. eyes that resembled each other, "there's none that's worthy meeting you." he simply stated.

"so, when will you take the time and find someone that's actually worthy of meeting me?" she questioned and devin swallowed thickly because his mom was always right, "if you can find someone that's just for the giggles, you can find someone who can fill your soul emotionally."

devin was on the same boat as luca. they desired to one day settle down, but at this very moment they had no desire to find someone. they enjoyed the way they lived but what happens when the heart decides for you? when the two souls tie together and it's hard to cut the cord. when destiny sends you someone because you finally found your someone? do you listen to it or do you hope that it's really meant to be it will spin around the the block again for you?

devin and luca didn't know, but their paths were tied. they had finally found each other and it didn't take searching to find each other because what is meant for you, will always find you and will always be meant for you, "you know you can't just keep trying to fuck my friend group." lex taunted him one day, the same day devin had met luca, "you can't rearrange her guts because you didn't rearranged mine."

devin chuckled at lex's comment. her mouth always quick and ready for a comeback. in many ways, devin now saw lex as a little sister. they knew each other the way only people close to you know you. it was appreciation, "you know alexia." devin began, a swing of his beer, "the world doesn't revolve around you, miss thang."

lex rolled her eyes. unsure of how things would end between devin and luca. fire was playing with fire. the destruction could be worse and she simply wasn't going to be the one to break it to them because they were both grown adults. fully aware of their lifestyle and the way they chose to live, "you need to grow up, man." she stated back, walking away from him and the glow of the fire pit left him company. he watched as lex went over to her fiancé, her smaller body finding comfort under his arms, as she joined mike in a conversation with karl anthony-towns.

devin scanned the room for the woman he was eager to see and talk to. somewhere mingling with the people who gathered around kylie jenner's house. it wasn't usual for ballers and influencers to be spotted amongst the same crowd. it was a lifestyle and the same one they choose to keep up with and stay in. it was the way they understood each other and they knew the ins and the outs of it all. it was hollywood's vicious cycle, and they all seemed to be victims of it all— as much as they all could complain and wish things were different.

his eyes finally landed on luca, the twenty- year old in a deep conversation with someone he had never seen but was sure had some sort of connection with someone here. he watched her carefully, the way she moved and the way she nodded and smiled away. pushing her hair back and tucking it behind her ear and a giggle leaving her lips before taking another sip of her drink. devin was waiting for the perfect opportunity to finally talk to her, to sweeten it up and butter her up before making his move. all he needed was liquor courage, taking the final swing of his corona, he pushed himself up, walking his way to luca, "i'm gonna steal her from you." he smiled, the million dollar smile that he was so used to winning over anyone.

the look that luca shot the baller was enough for anyone around them to question what was going on if they were to pay close attention. annoyed, but letting his body guide them away from the crowd and to the front porch of the house, "get your hands off me!" she hissed, tugging herself away from him. it was at this very moment, luca realized how much devin booker truly towered over her. her body felt overpowered by his bigger and taller frame.

she looked cute to him, the way she glared at him as she crossed her arms across her chest. the baggy black sweatshirt and the biker shorts that barely peaked from the hoodie adorned her body. she looked smaller in her outfit, hiding the curves and the crannies devin would learn to love and worship, "you really can't take a hint, huh?" she questioned

devin shrugged and ignored her question, "let's get out of here."
