The day before the ball Gia was surrounded by Slytherin girls. Everyone was wondering who she was going with. Gia being Gia was the most notorious girl in Slytherin. Every soiree with a new boy. Theo was telling everyone that they had gotten back together. She had written home and told them she wasn't going home. Sirius had sent her three dresses to choose from and they were all beautiful. She wanted to go home. She saw no point in a stupid ball.

"Gia! I heard Viktor Krum and Pucey asked you this morning!" Astoria said. She was sitting on the rug below the couch in the common room.

"I heard that Cedric asked Cho because Gia said no!" Pansy included.

"Is it true Fred is going with Angelina?" Tracey Davis asked from the couch on the other side of the room.

"Girls. Girls. Stop plaguing my cousin with your gossip," Draco retorted. He pulled Gia off the couch and into the hall outside the dungeons. George was waiting for her with a single Lily in hand. He shifted nervously on his feet. The sight made her want to throw a chair at the wall.

"Gia I wanted to-" He was cut off by Gia.

"No. I won't go with you."

"Gia, I want to go only as friends."

"Why?"

"Because I've liked Angelina for years. All Fred has to do is look at a girl and they immediately swoon."

"Fine. I'll see you at eight."

She walked back inside and Draco was giving her a look of disgust. He walked into the girls room and fell onto Alice's bed where she was reading 'Little Women'. He took it out of her hands and started to read it. Alice played with his hair. Something was off with Gia. She paced her room. She had hair cutting shears in her hand. With one big chop, 10 inches of her long curly hair was gone. Draco and Alice verbally screamed.

"What the fuck Gia?" Alice said. She was now at her best friend's side holding her still long hair in her hands.

"I can grow it back tomorrow. I just wanted something to knock Fred off his feet." Her tone was different then what everyone had seen over the last two weeks. It was confident, condensing, and mean. It was much like the Gia before Fred. The Gia Alice hated and Draco despised.

"No. Grow it back now, and stop that," Draco was angry. He hated when Gia's ego got in the way of her kindness. Even though she was never fully kind, just more than most of their Slytherin dorm mates.

"What Draco? It's not like anyone cares about me. They only care about whose arm I'm on and what dress I'm wearing." She snapped. There were no tears, just anger.

"Gia shove off. We care. We can send an owl to Remus to come get you right now if this is how you're going to be." Alice was no longer being nice. She had it with Gia's mood swings and this was the final straw.

"Alice I get that you're angry because you need to get laid because now that it's official with James you can't go off and shag Draco every chance you get," Gia responded. She looked unfazed by what just happened.

"Fuck you, Gia," Alice said.

"You can't have everyone in the family Allie."

"Gia, I'm sorry that Fred and Angelina kissed. I'm sorry that you loved him but you don't know how to handle not being in control. I'm sorry that for once everyone around you is happy, except for you. So just shut up and deal with the fact you won't always be happy."

"Gin and Moine are spending the night here. I hope your little outburst will be handled by then." Gia rolled her eyes and pulled extra blankets from under her bed.
