Chapter 8

Hailey's POV.

Every time I tried closing my eyes they just kept opening. I couldn't stop thinking about Jace kissing me on the cheek. I looked over at my clock and it was 3:32 am. I looked at my phone just to see if Jace texted me and he didn't. Getting out of bed was tough because I had like 50 blankets on me.

I walked over to my bathroom and splashed some water onto my face.
Then I sat down in my soft black chair.

"Hailey are you up?" My mom asked, knocking on my door.

"Uh yeah I just can't sleep." I say.

"Honey is something bothering you?" she asks while coming in my room.

"Well, uhh. Um Jace walked me home and kissed me on the cheek and I just can't stop thinking about it." I say.

"Why don't you come downstairs with me and I'll get you a cup of warm milk." she says.

"Okay, momma." I say.

We walk downstairs and I sit at the counter. My mom hands me some milk and I drink the whole thing.

"That was refreshing." I say.

"Hopefully you can sleep now." she says.

"Yeah, hopefully." I say.

"Hey did you know that Jace is an actor?" I ask.

"Yeah, Your sister used to talk about him all the time." She says.

"Ohhh. So why didn't I remember him?" I ask.

"Probably because you never paid attention." She says.

"Well she does annoy me so much so I can see why I don't listen to her." I say.

"Oh, Just go back to sleep. I'm really tired." she says.

I walk upstairs to my room and plop down onto my bed. I shut my eyes and eventually fall asleep.

My alarm starts going off and it's 5:20 am. I literally got about two and a half hours of sleep. I climbed out of bed, grabbed some clothes for school, and ran to the bathroom and started the water for my shower.

I hopped in and started to apply shampoo, then I rinse it out and put in conditioner. I wash my body and wait a couple of minutes before I wash the conditioner out of my hair. Once my entire body and hair is clean, I turn off the water and grab a towel.

I dry off and wrap my hair in the towel.
I put on a black crop top that says #sassy, dark wash skinny jeans, and white converse. I put my dark brown hair into a messy ponytail and apply a light amount of mascara.

My phone buzzes and I see a text from Jace.

***Conversation***

Jace: Hey, I can walk you to school if you're down for that.

Me: Okay, Just give me 15minutes.

Jace: Ok see you in 15.

I grab my book bag, run downstairs, and take a granola bar from the cabinet. Jace is probably waiting for me outside of my house, so I open the front door and he is standing there with a big smile on his face.

"Why the big smile?" I ask.

"Oh... just because." he says.

"There is no just because, there's a reason." I say pushing him gently.

"It's, nothing." he says.

"Okay whatever you say."

I shut the door and grab him by the arm.

"C'mon we're gonna be late."

"Okay, I'm coming.. I'm coming sheesh." he says while laughing.

"What's up with you today, seriously you keep laughing and smiling uncontrollably."

"I told you it's nothing." he says.

"Who is she?" I ask while grinning.

"Umm... look it's uh, a squirrel." he says while shaking.

I stop him and grab both of his hands trying to make the shaking stop, but it just gets worse. I look at him strangely.

"Why are you shaking more?"

"Uh can we just walk to school now?" He asks, obviously he's nervous.

"Yeah sure."

I'm gonna test him, I'll see if he likes me. I put my hand closer to his and intertwine our fingers. He looks down at me and smiles.

Jace's POV

You know what I'm just going to say it. She obviously likes me, so she deserves to know.

"Hailey, I really like you and I was wondering if you want to go out tonight?"

"Like on a date?" She asks.

"Yeah, just the two of us." I say smiling.

"Sounds great. What time?" she asks.

"How's 6:30?"

"Perfect." she says.

We get to school and go to 1st period. Hailey and I pass notes all day and we don't get in trouble.

When school is over I grab Hailey's hand and walk her home.

"See ya tonight."

"Okay." she says and kisses my cheek.
