Hailey's POV
When I woke up Jace wasn't is his bed. I then knew he left for work without even telling me. Well that's not the first. I got up out of his bed and walked downstairs. His brother was downstairs watching tv.
"Hey Hailey." Xander says.
"Oh, hey." I reply glumly.
"What's wrong?" He asks.
"Jace is always leaving and I never have time to spend with him." I say sighing.
"He is gonna be gone a lot so you really need to think about things. Do you really want to be the reason he quits his job if he does or would you want to be the reason he keeps his job and is happy?" He asks.
"I want him to be happy, but I also want to be happy. I just don't know what to do. I really don't want to be a distraction." I say sitting down next to him.
"Sometimes you have to make hard decisions in your life. Ones you don't want to make, but you know you have to." He says assuringly.
"This is gonna be hard. I just need to go home and sort all of this out. I'll most likely be back later. Thank you for your help." I say hugging him.
"Yeah no problem." He says smiling.
I walk towards the door and go outside. On the walk home I can't help but think about memories with him.
I won't leave you. I'll never leave you... I promise.
There will always be time for you even if I have to make it.
Because... I love you!
This is possibly the toughest decision I've ever had to make, but at least either way we'll still have a connection. I didn't even have to get all the way home to realize that it wasn't going to work out with Jace.
I pull out my phone and text him. Tears start streaming down my face as I type. I erase everything and decide to call to leave a voicemail instead because he won't answer.
"Hey you know who it is, Jace, sorry I'm not able to answer your call right now. I'm probably really preoccupied, but I'll call you back later." I can remember that word for word because I've had to listen to it so many times.
"Hey Jace... Um I know we've had this conversation before, but I don't think this. Us. Is going to work out. You're preoccupied and I'm stuck doing nothing. I really hope you understand. I want you to be happy and I don't want to be in the way of anything. I hope we can be friends. Um... So I guess I'll talk to you later or probably tomorrow. I don't know..... Bye." I was crying to the point where I couldn't stop.
I started running home. I wasn't in the mood for anyone or anything. As soon as my feet hit the last step I fell down. Life was complicated, but I had already figured that out. Jace simply wasn't the one for me. We were two different people. Nothing much in common, but the love we had for each other. It didn't take long for my phone to start gong off. I had gotten lots of messages from Jace.
"Please talk to me."
"What are you talking about?"
"We can make things work, it'll take time."I'll admit. I feel pretty bad, but he needs someone that can always be there for him and he can always be around them. I just wasn't that someone.
