Hailey's POV.
Today I was starting school and I was hoping I'd have a good time in a new high school. I take a quick shower, get dressed, and do my hair.
My mom and dad made breakfast, so I eat before my dad drives me to school. When I'm done eating I hop in my dad's car and he drives off. It's about a 30 minute drive to my high school.
We pull into the parking lot and I hop out of my dad's car.
"Bye dad." I yell and wave.
I turn around and look at my new school -which is huge-. I can't believe I might have a chance at having some friends.
I start walking towards the door and when I open it a lot of the teens stare at me. I walk around the school looking for the office so I can get my schedule. When I'm walking I accidentally bump into someone and their papers fly everywhere.
"Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry." I say while bending down to help them pick their stuff up.
"It's o- Hailey?" He questions.
"Jace? I'm seriously so sorry." I say.
"Don't worry about it." he says.
"I'm just trying to find the office" I say.
"Why don't I show you around." he says.
"Okay." I say.
He walks me to the office and I grab my schedule from the guidance counselor. I look over my schedule and then show it to Jace. He grabs my hands and takes me to my locker.
"This is your locker, mine is down the hall." he says.
"Thanks." I say.
We have English, Math, Science, and Drama together.
"Do you want me to walk you to class?" He asks.
"Yeah, sure." I say.
He takes my hand and we start walking to 1st period. I don't know why he keeps grabbing my hand, but I kinda like it.
Right when we get in class the bell rings. I walk to the front of the class and hand the teacher a note from the office.
"Okay class we have a new student. Her name is Hailey." He says.
Some people wave and say "hi" and others roll their eyes.
"Go take a seat next to Jace." he says.
I sit down, take out my agenda, and write down my homework.
Our teacher calls me up to try a math problem.
Jace looks over at me with the "are you sure you can do this" look. I nod and walk up to the front of the class and start solving the problem. The teacher has a shocked look on his face. when I am done I return to my seat with a grin.
"This is... CORRECT." the teacher exclaims.
I look over at Jace who is smirking and I start laughing. Everyone looks at me and then out of nowhere they all start laughing with me.
A girl comes up to my desk and slams her hand down.
"Listen. If you think you can come to my school and try to steal my man then you've chosen wrong. Back off of him OKAY and btw I'm Cassie." she says and walks away with a smile.
I roll my eyes and the bell rings. Jace and I walk to English. This class goes by quicker than math and before you know it, it's 7th period and that's my last class with Jace.
I did my way to drama class and take a seat that's empty.
"Okay class we will be drawing theme tickets today." the teacher says.
She goes around the whole class and gets to me. I put my hand in the bag and draw a romance theme.
She starts calling out themes and people do their skits.
"Romance." she calls out.
I stand up and I see Jace walk up to the stage. I grab a sheet with our lines on it and I review what we're doing before we start. There's a kissing scene. Jace looks at me and smiles.
"Action." the teacher calls out.
"I know you just moved here and I just met you, but I really like you." he says.
"I've felt the same way." I say.
"Um, will you be my girlfriend?" He asks.
"Yes." I say.
He walks closer to me and places his hands and my cheeks. I step on my tiptoes and wrap my arms around his neck. We kiss. When we let go he smiles at me and I feel like I'm melting inside.
OMG am I starting to like him? This can't be happening, I barely know him.
We both walk off the stage and Cassie gives me an evil look. When class is over I grab my bag, as I'm walking to the door someone grabs my hand luckily it was Jace.
"What do you want?" I ask in a nice way.
"Yo- uh. Well I was wondering if you maybe wanna come over after school?" He asks.
"Sure I'd love to just let me tell my parents." I say.
"Okay." he says.
We start walking to his house while I text my parents.
**Phone convo**
Me: Mom I'm going to Jace's house right now.
Mom: Okay sweetie don't be out too late.
Me: I won't.
**End of convo**
By the time I was done texting my mom we were half way there. I put in one of my ear buds and started listening to
Opposite of Adults by Chiddy Bang.
"I listen to that song too." he says.
"Really. Here you can listen to it." I say and hand him one of my buds.
When his hand touches mine as he grabs the bud I feel weird, like happy. He smiles at me and puts it in his ear.
About 5 minutes pass and we're already in our neighborhood.
"Do you wanna ride a penny with me?" He asks.
"Sure." I say.
We walk to his front step and he opens the door. I walk in and everybody looks over at us.
"So you brought your girlfriend." his brother says.
"Uh- she's my friend. A really great one." he says while nudging my shoulder.
He grabs my arm and pulls me up to his room.
"So is this where your pennys are?" I ask.
"Well one of them. The other is in the garage." he says.
He starts searching through his closet and grabs one of the boards. He grabs my arm and pulls me down to the garage.
"Hey can you look through that box?" He asks.
"Yeah." I say.
I start rummaging through the box and find the penny board.
"Found it." I yell.
"Great." he says.
He opens the garage door and starts riding one of the pennys outside. I follow him and almost fall.
"Are you okay?" he asks.
"Yeah." I say.
"Grab my hand." he says.
"O-okay." I say.
I grab his hand and we ride down the street together. It feels right. I can just tell.
