Jessika

I woke up in a cold sweat. My heart was pounding and tears were pouring out of my eyes. I hadn't had that nightmare in years and yet it still cut me just as deep.

My shaky hands grabbed my phone that was laying on the nightstand. I scrolled through my contacts and hit the 'call' button as soon as I saw Damien's name.

I don't know why I decided to call him, but my mind was in no place to make good decisions. All I know was that I needed him right now.

The phone barely rang once before Damien answered, but it was clear by his voice that I must have woken him up."Jessika, are you alright? Its 3AM..."

"Please, Damien. I can't-" I tried to say through my tears.

"You can't what, Jess?" Damien asked, the fatigue in his voice replaced instantly with concern. He could definitely hear me crying and when I didn't answer, "Jess, baby, where are you. I'm coming to get you."

"Home." Was all I could say between sobs. I placed the phone next to me as I curled into a ball. I couldn't stop crying and longing for Damien's arms to hold me.

Luckily, I didn't have to wait long. I don't know how but within minutes I heard his footsteps as they ran into my room.

Damien quickly sat down on my bed, pulling me into his lap. Sobs continued to overcome me as he rocked me back and forth. He had one arm wrapped around me while the other held the back of my head. His hand softly pet my hair and his lips remained on my forehead as he softly whispered sweet nothings to me in an attempt to calm me down. "Its okay baby," he said. "I've got you."

He continued to comfort me until I stopped crying. Even then, he still held me close, as if I would break completely if he let me go.

Finally, he set me down softly on the bed next to him. I didn't even notice I was still naked until I felt a t-shirt being placed over my head. He had to force my arms through the sleeves as if I were a child because I couldn't move. I was so numb.

He grabbed a pair of sweatpants, too, and pulled them up my legs. He grabbed my arms and wrapped them around his neck. I held on tightly as he pulled me into a standing position and pulled the sweatpants up over my butt.

I refused to let go of him, I needed his comfort. He could tell, so he decided to lean down and pick me up, one arm resting behind my back and the other under my legs. I tucked my face into his neck as he carried me out of the apartment.

He placed me in the front seat of his car and reclined the seat all the way back. He tried to remove my hands from around his neck and I let out a cry, not wanting to let go. He quickly leaned down and pet my hair, whispering in my ear, "I still got you, baby. You can let go, I'm not gonna leave you."

I nodded my head and slowly unwrapped myself from him. I felt so cold without him and immediately regretted it. But he got into the drivers seat and started driving who knows where.

I turned onto my side the best I could and shut my eyes, trying to clear my head. But the more I tried, the worst it got. The images of that night were on replay in my mind, over and over. Make it stop. Just make it stop.

"Stop what, Princess?" I heard Damien ask. I hadn't even realised that I was speaking out loud. As I opened my mouth to respond, I started crying again. Damien probably thought I was crazy, but he was doing a damn good job of hiding it.

Damien just reached over and grabbed my hand, holding it tight. He didn't let go until the car pulled to a stop, and he put the car in park. He got out of the car and quickly came to my side, unbuckling the seat belt and lifting me in his arms again.

I opened my eyes and looked at my surroundings. I was at some strange mansion that I had never seen before but that I assumed belonged to Damien. Why else would he have brought us here?

He managed to unlock the door with me still in his arms. When he opened it, I was met with the sound of dogs barking. Lots of dogs. My heart started to swell as I looked at all of the dogs surrounding us.

"Put me down" I said, my voice still hoarse from all my crying.

He chuckled and did as I asked. I sat on the floor and let the dogs climb on top of me. I smiled as one dog licked away my tears. I tried my best to pet all of them at the same time but I only had two hands. I was in doggy heaven.

"Alright pack, leave her alone." Damien said. I pouted as all of the dogs followed his command. Damien laughed, leaning down and picking me back up into his arms. I burrowed my head in his neck again. His arms were a different kind of heaven.

I felt as he walked us up a flight of stairs, and smiled when I heard all of the paws following close behind us.

He set me down in the most comfortable bed I had ever laid in. I sunk into the mattress and sighed, all of the tension in my body melting away.

I opened my eyes and looked around me to see where all of the dogs went. To my surprise, they each had their own beds spread throughout the room. It was so damn cute to see them all in their own beds, and I laughed. I never thought Damien would be such a softy for dogs, and I loved it.

Damien sat down next to me and leaned down to kiss my forehead. "May I ask what happened, Princess?" He asked.

I thought about telling him, but I couldn't relive the moment so soon. Tears started forming in my eyes again and Damien simply nodded, kissing my forehead once more.

He turned and crawled over me, pulling me close to his chest.

"The more I try to stop it the more I see it." I whispered.

Damien turned my body around so that I was facing him. His hands cupped my face as his lips softly pressed against mine.

"I've got you, baby. It can't hurt you anymore, okay?"

"Okay."

He pulled me into his chest and I inhaled his scent. I loved the way he smelled.

I drifted into a peaceful sleep while in his arms.
