I love and hate soulmate AUs. I hate it because I don't believe in true love or love at first sight, which are both things utilized in these AUs. I hate the idea that people are fated to be with someone and don't actually have a choice about it. I can just imagine all the discrimination people who don't marry their soulmates would get.

On the other hand- they're fun for write.

Roman walked into the coffee shop one morning, looking for something. He's been craving coffee for the past few days- which is weird, because he doesn't even like coffee. But, he finally gave in and went to the coffeeshop by the library. It's called "Not That Popular One" and it's so lazy, but Roman loves it. He walked up to the counter and greeted the barista.

" 'sup, welcome to Unpopular, what can I like- get for you, babes?" He said.

He's wearing sunglasses inside and to say that isn't strange is a lie, "Uh- can you see in her with those on?"

He looked up and smiled, somehow, Roman knew he was looking him up and down, "I can see enough."

Roman felt his cheeks tint pink as he coughed, "Well, uh-...I've actually never had coffee before, so uh- surprise me?"

The barista looked like he committed a crime, "Y- How have you never even tried it?"

Roman just shrugged, "I prefer hot chocolate."

The barista pointed a finger at Roman,  "You. I expect to see you in here every morning before so I can give you a different option every single time, no, you do not have a choice. Try to disobey these orders, I will find you."

"I feel like I should feel threatened."

The barista smirked, "You are. So, why did you come for coffee if you don't even know what you want?"

"I dunno. Far as I know, I didn't even like coffee, but suddenly, I've just been craving it like crazy. Actually, I've been wanting a lot of weird stuff, lately."

"Like?" He asked.

"I dunno, sometimes I wanna wear a leather jacket and listen to Taylor Swift's Reputation or Red album, instead of Lover or Speak Now."

The barista laughed, "I love Reputation and Red, Red's my favorite, though. But, I get what you mean. I've think I've been experiencing the same thing. I've been wanting to go see plays and watch Disney a bunch, lately. I've also been wanting to call people plebs, which is new- I've also been wanting tea instead of coffee- which is not right- it's not nearly as caffeinated."

Roman bounced a bit, "I love Disney! It's basically what I use instead of Astope's Fables. And I actually work at a dining theater! It's a restaurant with a stage son you get a show while you eat. Costs a bit extra, but not as much as an actual theater production.  Also, tea is much better than coffee. It's also much better for you- yes, I say this as an insomniac."

The barista scoffed, "You haven't even tried coffee, how soukf you know?"

Roman just chuckled, "I'm Roman, by the way."

"I'm Remy, babes."

This is an original idea for a soulmate AU, cause I didn't feel like doing the premade ones. Basically, you start craving the things your Soulmate liked until you get together.

In this universe, nobody is aware of soulmates existing. Nobody talks about the cravings because it's nobody's business and they'd never assume others experience this. It just feels like coincidence to the partners.

Would you guys believe me if I told you I'm not usually all that angsty? Honestly, I'm surprised I kinda forgot how to write fluff. Ig I've just been stressed a lot lately and it's not anything I can really escape, so it's just- piled up. But, I'm in a really good mood, rn. Idk why, maybe it's the new semester, maybe it's not having homework that needs to be done sitting on my shoulders, maybe it's cause I called my best friend yesterday and absolutely love her- who knows, really? I just know that I'm not a jittery pile of anxiety and insecurity, rn
