Buck's POV
I was in pediatrics looking over some of my notes for one of our newest patients when Meredith came up and asked if we could talk. I swallowed hard and said sure, and we headed to the cafeteria. "So I heard the you and your firefighter broke up." She said. I breathed a silent sigh of relief before answering "Ya we decided to end things, it was mutual." I said, making sure she didn't get mad at him. "Ok, may I ask why?" She said. "Though we really cared for each other, neither of us where what the other was looking for he's still not over his late husband, and I'm not really sure what I want yet." I said. "I completely understand, then where did you go last night? You didn't come back to the house?" She said. I didn't know what to say but I had to think of something very quickly. "I wound up getting very drunk, so Callie and Mark wound up dragging me out and Mark let me crash on the couch." I said, hoping that she didn't pry too much more into it. I got the feeling that she knew that there was more to the story than what I was telling. "Well, at least you didn't drive drunk and had somewhere safe to go." She said. "Ya and again, I'm sorry about worrying you, I just wanted to let go of my composure for a little bit, I didn't mean for what happened to happen, but." I said. "It's ok, I understand sometimes you just need to lose control in order to get control back." She said. "Thank you for understanding." I said. "Hey, we've all been there before." She said as she gave me a hug. Just then, her pager went off saying that she was needed in surgery. She left, saying that we would finish the conversation later. Arizona came up behind me just then asking about last night. "So what happened to you and Mark the other night?" She asked. I gave her a confused look like I didn't know what she was talking about 'even though I knew what she was talking about'. "I mean that no one could find either of you two after Mark went to check on you, it seemed like the two of you disappeared." She said. I wasn't sure if she knew what was going on with Mark and I even thought she was hinting that she knew. "Um I wound up drinking more than I probably should have and Mark was kind enough to let me crash at his place." I said. "Ok are you feeling better today?" She asked. "A little bit of a headache but other than that I'm fine." I said. I was hoping that she would leave it at that for what happened last night. She gave me a look that said that we weren't done with this conversation but she would let it go for now and walked off. I breathe a sigh of relief when she does and just then, my pager went off, I looked to see what it was and saw that it was from Mark saying that we needed to meet right away.
