(Y/n)'s jaw had remained glued to the ground for what felt like an eternity.
Lena didn't try to hide her open amusement at sight. Alex had been nervously rubbing the back of her neck for so long Lena feared friction had worn away her skin.
"So." Lena grinned. "I take it you're Alex's plus one to Kara's game night."
Sara blushed, not daring to face Alex. Lena's smug face was becoming very punch-worthy, and (Y/n) had turned into a codfish. The night was not going well.
"What the hell is going on? You've only just been dumped!" (Y/n) finally spoke, her voice rising to the level where only the city's canine population could hear her.
"Thanks for reminding me." Alex stiffened.
"What (Y/n) means is, this was unexpected," Lena said, pointing between Sara and Alex.
"We're not together!" Alex said adamantly.
"Yes, this was fun, not anything serious," Sara added.
(Y/n) and Lena exchanged a glance. They knew that line very well.
"Did you forget about Kara's special night?" Lena asked Alex.
"Why is it special?" (Y/n) asked.
"Oh yeah, I didn't tell you," Lena mumbled.
"I'm not going to like this, am I?" (Y/n) said, staring at Lena, waiting for the inevitable.
Lena shuffled from foot to foot. "Kara has told everyone she's going to be your partner, and she's going to get to know you properly."
"Are you joking? I have to spend time with her every day at work or that government building thing." (Y/n) sighed.
"You mean D.E.O.," Alex supplied.
"Yeah, exactly that." (Y/n) replied. "This sucks."
Sara forgetting her embarrassing situation, let out a chuckle that earned everyone's attention.
(Y/n)'s gaze was deep and unforgiving, she did not appreciate the laughter.
"Sorry," Sara said quietly.
(Y/n) turned to Lena with hopeful eyes. "Are you going to save me? I wanted to be partners with you."
"Err...can I go now?" Alex asked, rubbing the back of her neck; she wanted the ground to open up this was genuinely embarrassing.
"Yes, Casanova, you can go now." (Y/n) joked.
"Oh, remember when we met him!" Sara gasped suddenly, remembering their trip to 18th century Vienna.
"Yes, I do." (Y/n) grimaced.
"You met Casanova?" Lena asked.
"Well yeah, Mick went a little astray, and we had to stop him zapping the guy." (Y/n) shrugged like it was the most normal thing in the world.

"Are you sure?" Kara whispered, closeting herself as close to (Y/n) as she could while she put her arm over the piece of paper in front of them.
"Yes."
"And no one else will get the same, are you sure?" Kara whispered again.
(Y/n) had already begun regretting Kara's choice of Scattergorie for the night's entertainment.
Kara had claimed (Y/n) as her partner the moment she'd opened the door. (Y/n) had no choice to say no.
Lena was across the table with Alex; when she'd seen Andrea waiting, Lena had been determined to not have the woman in her team.
