"Have you ever wondered if you knew someone in a previous life?" Kara asked her friend; she'd been thinking about it ever since (Y/n) had revealed when she had truly met Lena.
Lena raised a puzzled eyebrow. "That's very deep for you, Kara."
"It is, but have you ever wondered if you've met someone before, only you don't remember it?" Kara pressed.
"I don't think I have, no." Lena shrugged. "Are you going to hand me my burger, or do you want to keep hiding it?"
Lena knew Kara was protective over her food but did this also extends to her own? Lena was hungry. A morning full of meetings had made her tired, and (Y/n) hadn't replied back yet to her message, which made Lena grumpier than usual.
Kara looked down at the bag of food in her lap, startling when she remembered it was there. Kara had been so lost in her thoughts that she had forgotten the food from Belly Burger.
Kara had rushed to the restaurant as soon as her lunch break had begun and headed for Lena's office. During their training session, what (Y/n) told her had been roaming around in her head for a week; she needed to say something.
That was why she had arranged Lena's favorite trash food for lunch.
"Have you seen (Y/n) today?" Lena asked casually; she hated sounding like a possessive needy girlfriend but (Y/n) was always so quick to reply to any message Lena sent.
Even when they weren't officially dating and were still pretending they hated each other, Lena would always get a swift reply from the photographer.
(Y/n) was never the kind of woman to make you wait days for a reply and play hard to get. (Y/n) was always consistently straight down the line and engaging. Lena felt particularly fragile today; perhaps that was what happened when she didn't see the woman for two days.
"Of course." Kara shrugged. "She's out of the office today though, she and Nia had some assignment involving an abandoned office. They spent the morning fielding off conspiracy stores about ghosts and the office block."
"Oh, well, I suppose that explains it." Lena sighed.
"Yeah, you know how she gets when she is so deep into her work." Kara chuckled. "The light has to be perfect, so they have to wait for the sun to move. The atmosphere has to be exactly to her liking. I know she is a professional, but she is fussy."
"I know." Lena smiled dreamily.
Kara opened the bag, handed Lena her order, and then did the same for herself, Discarding the bag on the floor next to her.
"Why all the deep questions all of a sudden?" Lena asked.
Kara didn't wait to reply before stuffing her burger into her mouth and bit off a large bite.
With a big gulp, Kara was finally ready to reply. "I was talking to (Y/n), and she mentioned it."
Lena's brows furrowed together. "What did she say?"
"She was talking about how she met someone in the future when she was on the Waverider, and (Y/n) knew she was the one." Kara shrugged, she couldn't give away too much, but she had to let something out.
"What, who?" Lena asked quickly. This was news to Lena (Y/n) told her she was the one and only. Now she was hearing about this other person.
Lena did not like where this conversation was going.
"Oh...err..it was some woman, she never said her name." Kara quickly covered.
Lena glared at her friend; suddenly, her burger wasn't something she desired. "Are you telling me that my girlfriend was lying when she told me I was the one? Who was this other woman who was the one? Does that mean I'm two?"
"I don't understand the question," Kara replied uncomfortably, she'd dug herself into a hole, and she couldn't get out of it.
"Tell me her name, Kara!" Lena demanded.
"Can we forget I said anything?" Kara inquired cautiously; this was not turning out as she expected it to.
"No, tell me!"
"Okay, but you have to promise not to tell (Y/n) I told you," Kara said, looking around her to ensure (Y/n) hadn't snuck into the office while she was distracted.
"What's her name, Kara?" Lena demanded more sternly.
"Her name is Lena." Kara finally said.
Lena opened her mouth to reply but found she couldn't form words, so she closed it again. What was her friend talking about?
"I didn't want to say anything, but I couldn't keep it inside." Kara blushed, tucking into her burger.
"Kara, what drugs are you on?" Lena half-smiled. Kara was clearly mistaken.
Kara finished her mouthful of food, and with wide, almost angelic eyes aimed at her friend, she shrugged. "None (Y/n) told me something that happened when she was with Sara."
Lena's eyes narrowed with annoyance.
"I thought you weren't jealous anymore?" Kara asked her friend.
"I'm not, but I still don't like being reminded that my girlfriend dated someone else, especially if that someone is as attractive as Sara Lance." Lena pouted.
Kara leaned dramatically across the desk conspiratorially. "You're the reason (Y/n), and Sara broke up."
"What?"
Kara nodded thoughtfully, her lips pressed together. "You were jealous of Sara for so long, and yet she knew (Y/n) dumped her for you."
"Kara, I'm going to ask you again. What are you talking about?" Lena asked suspiciously.
Kara suddenly regretted saying anything; she was absolutely feeling the heat and realizing she was not used to this much drama in her love life. How did (Y/n) manage?
"(Y/n) told me before she left the Legends, they had to go to the future. There was some bad guy who teamed up with Lex to control the country. Or maybe it was just National City I don't know she never said." Kara said, squinting her eyes behind her glasses, trying to remember the story correctly.
"Oh great, that's all Lex needs, more power," Lena said, rolling her eyes.
"There is more," Kara added smugly.
"Tell me," Lena demanded.
"Apparently, you were like Lex's sidekick or something, and you got to be a cougar cause technically you were older than (Y/n)." Kara quickly explained. "You do know what a cougar is, don't you?"
Lena blinked a few times, trying to understand what she had been told. "Excuse me, yes, I know what a cougar is, both the animal and the popular term."
"It's true, she posed as your new bodyguard, and … well, you know, stuff happened." Kara's cheeks blushed as she hid her embarrassment in her burger.
"Firstly, I would not be a cougar because (Y/n) will always be older than me, and secondly, how did (Y/n) come to tell you this?" Lena was beginning to feel as though (Y/n) had kept something important from her.
One moment (Y/n) was fiercely anti-Kara and Supergirl, and now (Y/n) was telling Kara every deep dark secret. Lena couldn't help but feel slightly jealous no matter how irrational the emotion was.
She had always maintained they first met on the trip to Peru, but that couldn't be true. At least that wasn't true for (Y/n).
"If you think about it, it's so romantic," Kara said with a smile. “A true story of fated love.”
"Yes, well, I want to know this romantic story myself," Lena said with determination. Whether (Y/n) liked it or not, she would be revealing everything in graphic detail.
