Addison's Point of View

By the time the Leafs road trip is finished, I'm still confused. I talk to both Auston and Freddie while they're on the road everyday they're gone. This of course does nothing to help me and my conflicting feelings. Tonight isn't going to help any, either.

Tonight was one of the nights I really had to turn on the charm. It was the annual blue and white gala, raising money for charity. It was a very formal affair, and an opportunity for the Leafs to raise some money for various charities. It was supposed to be a fun evening; but I had my doubts.

I was glad Morgan had asked Aubrey to go; at least I had her there with me. I knew I was going to be one of the best dressed; that was something, right?

"I think I have the perfect dress" are the first words out of her mouth as soon as I set foot in the door after work. The event is in two hours, and Auston and Morgan would be here in one; I had minimal time to get ready, not that I truly needed it.

"I hope you do" I laughed nervously. I follow her to her room, and I felt my jaw drop when I saw the gown she had picked out for me. "Aubrey, this is gorgeous..." I trail off, tracing the silk like material of the dress. It's royal blue in colour; a choice definitely made consciously. It's a floor length satin dress, an A-line silhouette. It's one shoulder, something to be a staple of all of Aubrey's designs, and sleeveless. I immediately take it from the bed and take it into the bathroom, where I eagerly hop into the shower, ready to get the night started. The sooner it began, the sooner it was over, right?

I don't take too long to get ready; I only straighten my hair, nothing fancy. I put on a light layer of make up, slipping into the dress before looking at myself in the mirror. For a moment, I don't recognize myself. I feel beautiful. The way Aubrey was able to create dresses that was able to shape my body was amazing; she truly was a talent. Taking a mirror selfie, I send a photo to Alex, Auston's sister, whom I promised I would send a picture of the dress I was wearing. It felt weird talking to her as much as I did, but she was aware of how everything was. She was aware I wasn't actually dating her brother.

Addie 🤪
new dress!!

Alex 🤩
GUURLL 🔥 😍 my brother is one lucky dude !!

I smile, placing my phone down on the bathroom counter. I appreciated the relationship I had with Alex; it made what I had to confront Auston about harder. There was so much more than meets the eye when it came to us; so much I wasn't willing to give up. The friendships I've formed. The people I've met...

I take one last look at myself before heading  out to see if Aubrey is ready too. I know she worked hard on both of our dresses, and I knew hers was going to look fantastic too.

"Addie!" She shrieks when she sees me. I can tell she's impressed with herself again, as she should be. Hers looks equally as amazing as mine; off the shoulder, floor length, and a beautiful teal colour.

"Mo won't be able to contain himself around you" I snicker when I see her, and she of courses turns a million different shades of red.

"We both look fantastic" she changes the subject instantly. "But I'm kind of nervous, you know? I've never gone to one of these things before" she confesses. I, of course, had been to a few with Auston in the past. Not the gala of course, but similar events. It was nerve racking at first, but I knew what she and I worried about were two different things.

"You'll be great!" I tell her, and it's true. She is a very likeable person; bubbly and can be chatty. At these things, as the guys were often busy doing their thing, you ended up spending most of your time with the other wives and girlfriends; I was happy this time around I had Aubrey and Liv. "It won't be that bad, I promise!" I assure her, but I can still tell she's very uneasy. She looked even more nervous when she heard the front door open; Mo and Auston were here.
