"Hey, Shiro?" Lance wove himself to the front of the group, "That's my room."
He hated playing stupid, ignoring all the signs that were there. Shiro was never wrong. This once though, Lance hoped he was... he hoped that this wasn't what it sounded like. But the mental barriers were all going up, and Lance already had plans to sprint out of the hallway in 6 different ways.
Shiro looked at him. Was it truly sympathy in his eyes, or was it just disappointment? The second option seemed way more likely.
"Lance, we've been wanting to tell you this for a while now." He sighed, rubbing his eyes, "Well, we-"
"We're replacing you, Lance." Allura easily continued Shiro's sentence, not a single glimpse of sadness on her face. No sympathy in any of her words.
"You have 2 days to leave."
That hit Lance like a Galra cruiser at light speed. No... no, I-I can't... his head exploded, eyes threatening to spill a flood of tears at any moment. He looked at the team, looking for confirmation that this wasn't some sick joke... but didn't find any laughter, no snickering from Pidge. No smile from Keith. Instead, they were all avoiding his gaze.
Except one.
Dest was crying a storm, they didn't seem to like replacing him at all. Dest ran up to Lance, but seeing him flinch was enough to make them step back.
The headache was too much, and the thoughts hurt even more. Then Lance felt a sharp pain in his face, Allura had slapped him.
"Snap out of it and LEAVE!" she was yelling now, he had to go now.
...
They hate me... They all HATE ME! Lance just couldn't believe it, I was nothing to them in the first place, I'm useless. They hate me, all of them...
(I recommend playing the song 'Il mare eterno nella mia anima' or 'Caesar's Theme' on youtube or Spotify for the next scene. And read a bit slow, trust me!)
Before Lance even realized it, he was sprinting across the halls. In the wrong direction. Packing seemed useless now, he had enough supplies in Blue to last him a while. BLUE.
He skidded to a halt.
He had to leave her. He had to leave her. He had to leave her. How could they, they stripped everything from me. Lance thought, Hah- Like you deserved anything in the first place, YOU IDIOT.
Lance ran to the hangers, there was no stopping the tears now. Blue instantly lowered her shields and shrank down to a lioness. Rubbing his tears away with her face, she started purring, and sat down, waiting for him to lay with her.
Lance wiped his face again with his sleeve, "I'm sorry Blue." he sniffed loudly, "I have to go. They don't need me anymore. Take care of Dest for me. Make sure Keith doesn't die."
Blue started crying. As much as a robot could. She stood up and turned back into a machine, opening her mouth and ejecting all the supplies he needed. One last time, Lance leaned in for a hug, just as Blue turned off, her eyes losing the yellow glow.
"Goodbye Blue!" Lance cried, his face hurt from the combined pain of Allura's slap and his contorted expressions, "I'll miss you!! Do you hear me? I love you, don't forget me!! I'll never forget you, never! I promise!" not hearing a response, Lance started yelling.
"Please answer me Blue!! Do you hear me?!" his throat was sore now, "Please..."
"Don't leave me..."
(I cried while writing this scene :D... Anyways I hoped you enjoyed Chapter 5! I don't know when Chapter 6 is going to be published, but I think it'll be soon! I have a detailed idea for the next couple of chapters, so I hope you like them.)
