Xhiren stood up, "You will?"
Lotor smiled, "Yes. This hell has been going on for far too long, don't you think?"
For a brief moment, Xhiren looked almost as if he wanted to embrace the prince, but instead, he turned and looked out the window, gazing upon the stars and planets.
"I'm glad, L. I really am."
The commander looked so determined, staring out into open space, his smile almost illuminated the whole room, bathing it in a refreshing yellow light. He was so happy.
Lotor surprised himself, and he laughed. How could he have forgotten? This is what drew him to Xhiren in the first place, all that time ago. He stood up and walked over, taking Xhiren's hand in his own. A black glove and a bare hand, a commander and a prince.
The Galra Empire, soon to be simply the Galra kingdom, was seeing true hope for the first time in a long time.
This moment of genuine happiness, of smiles, or gazing out into thousands of stars, could last forever. It should've.
But the doors opened, and Lotor quickly took his hand out of the commander's. He should've known.
"Commander Xhiren- Your Highness-" a messenger guard ran into the room, "I was expecting to be summoned, there's a planet nearby! It has lush forests and resources, a fit place to refuel."
Lotor glanced at the control board, Xhiren had muted the non-immediate alerts when he entered. He smiled. "Of course. We'll dock and look around. It seems like a wonderful place to stretch our legs. The soldiers could use fresh food and hunting practice."
"Oh- y-yes of course, Prince!" the guard seemed surprised by Lotor's soft response, on top of it having nothing at all to do with quintessence. "I'll alert the staff immediately!"
After a few seconds of running, the guard quickly turned around and cried, "V-vrepid-sa!", then continued on her run.

Before long Xhiren's cruiser had neared the planet. It looked so out-of-place, completely covered in lush greenery except for a few blue spots containing lakes and rivers. It looked untouched, pure. Something his father- no, something Zarkon would've stomped the life out of and destroyed.
Apologies, Father, Lotor stared at the green spot in the distance, This is my way of doing things.
Lotor gave the order to descend.
After a while, if you looked hard enough, with well-rested eyes, you would start to see a small dark patch on the surface of the planet. Slowly getting bigger... It was starting to look like...
"A crash site!" Xhiren's eyes widened.
