Lance lounged in the low branches of a tree, kicking his good leg back and forth. The sun was shining in his face, branches rustling all around him. The shaaaaaaaaa of the leaves and trees around put Lance into a sort of trance, and he allowed memories to slip in and out, focusing on each one briefly.
It's like I've never known another place.

The splintered pieces of the pod were used to create a small hut, and Lance had taken it slow for a day, eating the plants and flowers that he knew weren't deadly and getting some needed rest.
Over the next days, Lance slowly but surely began to walk again, using a stick as a cane and taking laps.
Once his left leg had healed more, Lance created makeshift 'crutches' from branches and washed his leg wound.
Looking around the planet, Lance found that it wasn't much different than Earth... well if Earth was covered in exclusively trees and had hardly any animals on it. It seemed like there weren't any birds in the sky or small critters in the trees, and McClain considered himself lucky if he heard chirping, or saw something dart past him through the grass.
Lance kept a record of any flora and fauna that he happened to see, a great way to keep oneself occupied.
The forest was incredibly peaceful, and it seemed like Lance finally got the vacation he always wanted, and probably never would've gotten if he stayed with Voltron.
But despite the peacefulness of the forest, and the wonder, and the trees, the lake was his favourite part.
As luck would have it, Lance arrived at the end of winter, when temperatures were climbing. It only took a few days for all the ice and snow to melt and reveal a beautiful turquoise lake. It almost looked like the ocean back at home, when he and his family would swim every day, one of the only times that his dad would somewhat sober up and acknowledge him.
While the water was still frigid, Lance would take off his boots and lower his legs into the fresh lake, soothing his wound and using his time to meditate and relax.
One day, Lance spied a few tiny fish in the current and smiled. It was finally time for a swim.
He stripped off his armour, leaving the undersuit, and began to climb a white tree at the bank. Once satisfied with the height, Lance bent his knees and sprang forward, opening his arms wide.
The wind rushed through his hair, the cold air nipping at his skin, making him feel alive.
A couple of seconds later, Lance opened his eyes and hit the water, letting it embrace him again.
(I had originally planned this Chapter to be MUCH darker, but spring came earlier than expected, and I just couldn't bring myself to write something so depressing...so angst is coming later :)
(This chapter was heavily inspired by a college campus I visited a while back, it was the reason I ended up including a lake.)
(Let me know what you think of this chapter (and it being a little longer) and stay Langsty!)
