Reunited

The Chief

-Korra's POV-

I watched as the city became smaller as I got closer to home. I lost sight of Asami. I moved below deck into one of the rooms provided for us. I played with my bracelet the whole ride to the South, which took half a day.

The tribe hasn't seen me since the day I left the land, part of me feels like the tribe won't accept me to be their Chief for multiple reasons, one being I'm a female and two being that I lived my life in a city where I didn't need to go hunting for my food and stuff like that. Things are way different from the Tribes and the cities, I don't know if I'd be able to be the leader they need, and the only way for me to drop out of this Chief duty is death, once you're name is signed up theres no way out, you either become the Chief or die, thanks to my grandfather, he won the battle he signed up for which automatically meant my father had to fight, and my father won his battle so its my turn. Once i was born my name was automatically put in the roster, I have no choice but to fight for my life.

"Korra welcome home" I was greeted by one of the guards as I stepped out the boat and into the cold breeze "please follow us"

Katara and I followed the 2 guards onto snowmobiles, they took us to a large icy...castleish structure or mansion....I don't know it was big and it's where all the passed Chief's lived and where the future ones will. It was time to face my father after such a long time, well not so long, I saw him once in awhile since he had a council meeting, but my mother in the other hand, last time I saw her was 7 years ago since she only showed up for one meet.

"Korra!" my mother screamed as I walked in "you've grown so much!" she turned me around checking every inch of my body

"well Hi to you too" I laughed

"look at you!" she finally stopped moving around but still had a grip on my face smooshing my cheeks "you're beautiful" she smiled

"look who finally came home after 10 years" my father came into the room

"hey dad" I smiled

"are you ready for your big day" he smiled and gave a hard pat on my back

"not really" I sighed "anyways, I'm going to unpack" I left to my room leaving them to talk to Katara about my training.

As I walked into my room I was tackled my a huge white ball

"Aaah" I screamed as I felt it licking me "NAGA!?" I was so glad to see her, she jumped around pushing over "Naga stop" she tickled me "I missed you too girl" I hugged her "how'd you recognize me?" She sat down in front of me and tilted her head in confusion, what else did I expect. I laughed it off and continued to unpack.

I grabbed paper, a pen and started to write a letter to Asami, I told her I'd try and write her everyday so minus well start now. I wrote telling her I made it back home and good luck with her company.

"Hey kiddo you ready for training?" My father walked in "show me what you learned"

"Alright tuff guy" I laughed "let me just send this letter out"

"Already writing to Asami?" He asked

"I told her I'll write to her everyday, and this letter won't make it till tomorrow morning"

"I guess so" he shrugged "I'm glad you came back" he smiled

"Anyways, ready to get your ass kicked"

"Ha in your dreams" he grinned

After sending out the letter, I went to the private training grounds with Naga following me, my parents and Katara were already there waiting for me. Naga stayed in a corner and watched.
