Asami and Mako had ordered their food and had a seat by the window. Asami felt awkward, mostly because Mako wouldn't stop smiling and acting all nice.

Mako wasn't a bad guy or anything, he was respectful towards Asami nothing more, but he always felt behind or even lonely due to the fact that she never really had time for him.

Asami knew what she did was wrong, very wrong, cheating on Mako then ending things with him to be with Korra. But she couldn't help but think, what if it was the right thing to do? Korra's nothing like Mako, she's more determined and dedicated to getting things done, she takes charge and knows how to lead her people, all though Korra didn't have the correct education she's still pretty smart, she works day and night and still finds time for her son, Asami really admire her, but not only that, she felt a greater connection with Korra than with anyone else.

Mako in the other hand is a hard worker but he doesn't work for what he wants he does it mainly to 'survive', him and his brother did live on the streets and their minds were always 'money is survival' they weren't wrong, without money there's nothing, especially if you live in the city, but now the brothers have good paying jobs...well Mako down graded, but still, they have a nice apartment and it's payed off, but what Asami didn't like was that Mako got too comfortable, he didn't want to move because of money, he didn't want to try to find a better job, he basically wanted everything to be handed to him.

"You were right" Mako spoke as he took a sip of his tea, Asami continued to eat as she listened to the man. "I do feel more like a asshole knowing that's your best friend, the way she acted the night at your house I thought it was because she wanted to get under my skin, but now that I know it makes sense, she was just protecting you" he reached for Asami's hand "you think you guys can forgive me for my actions?"

"Mako of course... But I've been wanting to tell you something" Asami wanted to tell him what was going on and how she did something wrong

"I've been wanting to tell you something too, I've been thinking maybe it's best if we don't get back together" he sighed "I'm going to be in a war where my chances of surviving is slim and I don't want to leave you like that"

"I understand" Asami understood what he was saying but it also got her thinking too, will Korra be fighting in this war? She knew some of the leaders weren't, like Wu who's a non-bender and Izumi who has general Iroh leading the troops and Suyin is still debating.

"But I still have this deep love for you Asami and if I make it I want to come back to you and I'll get my shit together, I want to be the person that can provide for you" he caressed his thumb against Asami's hand

"Mako" she let out a deep breath "that's what I wanted to tell you, I... I found someone else" she saw how disappointed he looked.

"Are you serious?" He asked "It's only been a day Asami and you moved on that fast? Was I that bad?"

"What no, you were so good to me and I know it looks bad but-"

"That's just wrong Asami, that's disrespectful" he looked mad "who is he?"

"That's none of your concern"

"No I want to know!" He released the woman's hand and smashed his hand on the table catching everyone's attention

"Mako please-"

"Stop Asami, how long have you known him? Is he your boyfriend or just someone you're interested in?"
